Sorry if this isn't in the right place but really frustrated and just want to pass on some information I learned over the week.

So about nine months ago I purchased a set of wheels and tires and since then have around 4000 miles on this set. A few weeks ago I noticed one of the wheels finish was starting to peel and then last Thusday I noticed a second was doing the same thing. I reached out to the vendor that I purchased the wheels from and was informed that they would need pictures. I sent in pictures and was informed a warranty claim had been submitted. After a week I was contacted by the manufacturer. They told me that since the wheels were a special color I would have to send the wheels back to them and they would fix the wheels.

So you maybe asking yourself why I'm frustrated since the manufacturer is standing behind thier product. The first reason is all my fault. I recently sold my stock wheels so I would have to put my car up on jackstands for two weeks and I need my car for work. The second reason has to do with the vendor. When I purchased the wheels I was led to believe the color I wanted was a standard color. The reason this has me a little angry is because the manufacturer told me if they were a standard color they would just ship me the wheels and I could ship the damaged ones back.

The last thing that really has me angry is that the vendor/manufacturer will not help with the cost of unmounting/mounting or shipping. They both point the finger at each and then say the customer has to cover that cost.

So for anyone that plans to purchase wheels are any large item over the internet make sure you speak with the manufacturer and ask the vendor how they handle warranty claims. Then make an educated decision on your purchase.

Thanks for taking the time to read hopefully this helps someone out in the future

I wouldn't necessarily give them much credit for standing by their product if they make you jump through hoops for repair.

Who are the vendor and MFR?

You purchased wheels from this vendor, were the tires mounted on the wheels? Did they mount the wheels on your vehicle?
Wheel manufacturers seldom have the capability to mount tires on their wheels. If they damage the bead area of the tires dismounting them, then they are liable for the damage.
Its only right that you return what you purchased, and only what you purchased.
The wheel manufacturer is standing by his warranty. You have no beef with him.

As I understand your frustration, this is typical internet online sales. Ever try and file a warranty claim on a house hold appliance that you bought through a Lowes/Bestbuy?
I have been criticized over and over about either the price of mods, my supercharger and such on my 15 GT or the ADM on my 16 Shelby because I chose to buy local and not hunt down the best deal online. When ever a question or if a problem though it's always been handled quickly and satisfactory. I know sometimes opinions and styles might limit this but my point is ,sometimes the best price is not always the best deal. I feel for your issue especially being this car is your DD, but what you're experiencing is very typical and business as usual over the internet.
As 15stang mentioned if they are trying to resolve this consider yourself lucky, don't trash a vender if he's trying to help you.

Ya it's an inconvenience to have to do all that work but they probably wouldn't ship you new wheels before you sent yours in. Where as if you bought local the shop could order the wheels and when they came in swap you out same day.

That sux but whenever i buy a new set of wheels i always keep the stock set just in case. But the vender should be sending a new set with a return shipping sticker. Thats what i call standing behind their product!

Thanks everyone for the information. As I stated the issue with not having my stock wheels is on me. The biggest issue I have is I purchased this product as a package and payed shipping for the items to be shipped to me to begin with and now that their product failed I have to pay again for something that is not my fault. I could understand if I damaged the wheels myself. I would one hundred percent pay for the shipping and to have the wheels unmounted/mounted.

This post was just for me to vent and to help other members that purchase big items online. It was in no way to trash a MFR or vendor. If anyone wants to know who they are once everything is completed I will give a finally update.
