I have a PP equiped stang and after at least driving for about 30 minutes on city streets, sometimes when I apply the brakes, I get a grinding noise from the front, keep in mind that the temperature outside is about 27-30 Degrees C (I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada). The grinding is not constant, sometimes more, sometimes less. It would be kind of hard to pinpoint when it will happen too. Any others have something similar??? My car was built April 1/2 of this year.

Thanks

Squeal or just grinding...if squeal also there is a TSB for this...go to ford...tell them to fix it and you get free front rotors and brake pads replaced...look in TSB section of forum for more details. Just had mine done

TSB is for EB PP I believe...with the 14in brakes. I don't think there is anything for the larger 15inchers. I also have squealing on my brakes when the car is just about to come to a stop. I'm guessing it's just the pad compound skidding and making noise.

So, ford thought to try for slightly higher temperature range pads, which squeal at lower temp ranges. This is just performance pack on either GT or eco. Then we get this noise. I'll break it down for you. The "higher performance brake pads" are garbage from ford. So get the TSB done, get your squeal gone, and if you want good performance, buy a set of track only pads to swap in when you run it hard. Ford almost had it.

You don't really just want to have an extra set of pads lying around just to swap in when you need them as brake pads need to bed in. If you install any set of pads you want to keep them installed until you're ready to change them. I mean unless you want to tear up your rotors everytime you do a track day before and after lol.

Also, TSB is not for the 15 inch brakes

I didn't know the TSB doesnt include the GTPP, as my co-workers car had the issue and he took it in to ford and they changed his pads out. I've been swapping pads out for trackdays for 6 years now. My track pads eat the rotors enough as is, its the street pads that can't make an impact.

You can do it obviously, just not ideal for performance. Unless you want to resurface them every time lol
Rotor swapping or resurfacing for pad compatibility reasons is not necessary if your swapping is only among the various Carbotech compounds, once you get the first set bedded to them. Obviously this doesn't apply in cases of scoring cracking, or excessive wear.

That's pretty nice of carbotech, now how many other manufacturers can say that?

I can't say I've resurfaced everytime i've changed my brakes but then I've never upgraded to track pads before. so I've never seen a need to get max performance outta my brakes.

Now does anyone know who Ford uses for PP brake pads?

My track pads usually clean the face of the rotor, and I don't use the brakes much on the street.

Traffic permitting, it's a good idea to use your brakes pretty hard from time to time on the street.

Not for any reasons involving the brakes themselves, this one's to keep you current. Don't think that braking skills won't lapse over time.
