Watch lots of videos on installation before doing it. The toe knuckle bearings are tough. Just take your time and you will be good to go. Get an alignment afterwards.

I just installed this setup this spring. Absolutely love it. Two biggest PITAs for installation was, 1) pounding out the front strut/knuckle bolts, and 2) the rear toe link bearing. I used a bearing install/remove kit like this, it worked great, but took a lot of effort twisting the wrenches.

You may also want to consider installing camber bolts (BMR) in front while you are doing it. Without camber bolts (or camber plates), you can only get about -1.5 deg of camber. Arguably, you need at least about -2.5 deg for semi-serious track duty.

Did you rent that or buy the kit?

Does anyone know what the orientation of the new front strut notch should be? I'm reading a bunch of conflicting information on the instructions and online.

I only installed the lowering springs but hear you! The instructions said to have the notch facing the engine bay, which is what I ended up doing. One of them originally had the notch facing out, so I was really confused and the online install videos at the time didn't even reference the notch. I ended up chatting with Ford Performance and they said the factory installed it wrong - the notch should be facing the engine.

yes, it's so confusing! When you say facing the engine, just to clarify do you mean how the installation instructions depict it?

This is my current tower, whatever way I try to get the bolts through correctly, the notches are always at an angle or directly in line with the strut tower brace (if that makes sense)

To be honest it has been a few years, but if I recall they were facing the engine but were at an angle. Not exactly perpendicular.

And yes it was very confusing as I was like, what does facing the engine bay mean?!!! Does that mean facing the engine or facing the sides of the engine bay?!!!

All I can say, is apparently the factory also gets confused cause I had one facing the engine and one facing out.

Maybe someone who is more of an expert will chime in.

I should be clear though, the notch I am talking about is on the underside of tower and not visible once installed.

Ah thanks for the insight! Yeah I'm confused because I have 2 notches on the top and have no idea what to make of the instructions.

What's the consequence of having them not aligned properly?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe how the upper notches face are what the instructions are referring to. I believe it is the ones in that photo I posted. I have them installed with the underside notches facing the engine, and the upper ones point differently on the passenger and driver side.

As far as consequence, not sure what they might be if they are wrong, but guessing it has to do with camber. I didn't notice any difference when one faced in and one faced out vs. both facing in, but I haven't tracked the car either.

Of course I could be wrong about all of this! I would chat with Ford Performance tomorrow and see what they say. Maybe I misunderstood them when I was installing my springs.
