I think a 13-14 GT with a 2018-19 A10 drivetrain would be freaking awesome. even though I own one I just cant seem to feel any love for the S550 styling
I love my 14 GT way more than I like my 16 GT and my 16 GT is definitely faster and in the color I wanted but the look of S197 is best IMO. I won't go back solely because the interior on the S550 is so much better you cant even compare. The only reason I got rid of my S197 is because I wanted to go boosted and the gen 1 coyote wont hold 800whp for long without building it plus my 14 was a manual and had to have it rebuilt 3 times before I sent it to Ben.

First or all, the reason your 2017 feels slower is because it is slower.
No, it’s not. The 15-17s have a slightly better power to weight ratio (base curb weights) than either the 11-12 or 13-14 GTs. The IRS makes launching trickier so STOCK they may be close in 0-60 and et but not trap speed, although not according to C&D (see post #18: 2 S197 tests and 4 gen2 tests). Yawn.

The A10 gen3 is much faster than both.

In the real world I always see '15-'17 guys running 13s and the '11-'14 guys running slightly quicker and faster

I believe you. But it's not because the cars actually are faster...they're not, their power-to-weight is worse, per Ford's factory specs. And when a professional car testing outfit using standardized, corrected methods like C&D tests four 15-17s and two 11-13s and gets mostly quicker/faster times for the 15-17, it's because they actually are faster. But a driver needs to know how to deal with the IRS, which is worse for launching, and takes more still than a solid rear axle car like an S197, and is why the real world with drivers of various skill levels might be different. This is why drag racers lock out IRSs and didn't like the mustangs ditching the solid axles in 2015. Put a skilled driver (like at C&D) in an S197 and a pre-refresh S550 and they'll get better numbers on the latter, which is what they printed.

And those who know what there doing.

And look here: https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/fastest-1-4-mile-2011-mustang-gt-track-times.690001/

Fastest stock S197 is 12.2@115 and just looking at the bone stock ones it looks like their trap speeds are consistently higher. This is a waste of time but I'm going to calculate the average trap speed on the bone stock cars for you too.

2011-2014: 111.12mph

2015-2017: 110.94mph

Now, keep in mind on the 2011-2014 I was including everything on the list. Not just the top 21. Everybody posts their times in that thread, slow or fast. If I take ONLY the top 21 and average them out so it's apples to apples, the average trap speed is now 111.49mph

I don't really care either way, but I knew I wasn't crazy when I thought I always saw S550 guys running a bit slower in bone stock cars. Now, a half mile an hour is barely anything, but it's something.

both my 2011 and my 2013 A6 GT ran 12's bone stock without so much as a tire pressure adjustment. the 2011 was faster than the 2013 and that may have been due to the warmer weather when I was racing the 2013. best in the 2011 was a 12.52 if I recall.

I've had 4 S197s and 3 S550s. The '18 and up are more refined than the '15 I owned. All Premium cars. I love the bullitt and the shifting of the trans, but the A10 is a MONSTER. I drive in track all the time and with just the SCT tune the thing is FAST. I'm talking competitive with the Bullitt's crummy gearing and Whipple. From a roll, the Bullitt will, of course, waste it. But out of the hole with street tires, my money is on the A10 with 355 gearing.

I LOVE the A10. And even wake up in the night wanting to drive it again! The Track mode and mild tune wakes the car up massively. In the process of a Lund tune. I love stick shifts, but the A10 is a thing of beauty.

I loved the 2012 Mustang GT because even with a tune and intake, I noticed significant gains! I had to buy the panhard bar, lowering spring and lca’s to control it fish tailing. Maybe it’s a straight axle. The 2017 have the irs and maybe that’s the reason it feel slower. Supercharging the 2017 Mustang GT changes everything though.
