Guys don't focus on the belt-minder: it's the last problem and there is already a procedure to remove it.
Main purpose would be to unlock many other features!

From my experience with my 2015 GT Premium, I thought that the car does lock automatically when you walk away. At least I always hear what sounds like it's locking. Then again, I have the Enhanced Security package so perhaps that has something to do with it.

Also, I can open the windows through the key fob. I rarely do it just because I never take the keys out of my pocket but I definitely can. I think you have to hit unlock twice and just hold it in on the second push. Should open them. I don't think you can close them though although I haven't tried it now that I think about it.

What's most intriguing to me out of what the OP said was installing Sync 3 over/instead of the Sync 2 system. This would be huge! I know it was just an example but if you could actually do that, it would be awesome. Had I known Sync 3 was coming on the 2016's, I probably would've waited. It's not the end of the world but would def be nice to have.

Also, I didn't get nav in mine but it seems like the 8" My Ford Touch screen is exactly the same system as the nav cars. What's more, there's a screen that gives you latitude/longitude which makes me think it has some sort of GPS receiver. I was wondering if I could somehow add the nav option to my system (even for just Sync 2).

Definitely keep us posted if you make any headway. Unfortunately, I know nothing about the ECU or the programming to be of any help.

No, there is no auto locking for what I know, but could be different with the package you have.
Windows can be opened with the sequence you said, but there is no possibility to close the windows with the key fob. Would be nice too if windows could close automatically when you close the doors.
I'm mainly interested in lights behaviour, actually I don't know if it's something controlled by the ECU but when I'll receive my care (hope in the next week) I'll try to connect my ELM327 interface and do some test.

oh, btw: no ECU knowledge here too :)

I do miss the coding aspect from a BMW. You can without any ECU modifications remove the seatbelt reminder (Beltminder). Below is a video, and it's also in the manual (according to the video)

The noise you hear with the ESP is the steering column and center console locks engaging. I'm pretty sure it doesn't lock the doors, because I can still open my door with the car in the garage and the key in the house (well outside the ~36" range).

The Fusion has both up and down functionality (I just rented a Fusion Titanium this past week for a business trip). Each function can be independently enabled or disabled in the settings menu. The Mustang only has auto down functionality.

This cannot be done without hardware modification. While the display is the same, the control module attached inside it is not. My dealer tried desperately to get me to buy a car in their inventory that was exactly to my specs, less navigation. The service technician (and resident geek) was unable to find a way to make it work. Ford's tech line confirmed this. Google concurs.

Hope you can hack into it. I would love the windows up feature as well as a digital speedo. You could make a LOT of money if you can get in there and change all the stupid things Ford did that drive most owners crazy.

Digital speedometer would be nice. It would've been nice for the navigation to have it as well, but it doesn't... :(

Sync 3 uses different hardware than sync 2, different touch screen is the main one and they are not plug and play swappable.

just send your nav unit into the guy that is upgrading them...it is costly but no more so than the option itself.

Why would you want to remove the seatbelt chime? Anyone who drives without their seatbelt is just a driving darwin award.
Well, think of it this way. If you think that only stupid people don't wear their seatbelt, then you should be excited that we'll thin out the stupid. I never wear mine, it's a risk, I guess, but one I'm willing to take for comfort and freedom.
