Boost is absolutely an indicator of performance. If the car picks up 100 HP with a 3 psi gain how is that not relevant. Inquiring minds want to know. Its not until you go beyond and outside a turbo/engine efficiency range that you need to worry about restriction overcoming the performance benefits associated with added boost. That's why we rely on turbo maps to build our engine turbo combos.

Boost itself isn't though... I have 25psi, you have 11psi. Which car has more HP..?
One would have to know what two ENGINES we are talking about. So boost itself is an indication of how much pressure is on the engine, not how well it can handle/use that boost effectively.

No, because its sized to be quick to spool and thus doesn't support enough air volume for the higher RPM bands. Thats just supposition going off of the dyno plot. Could be wrong, but since we don't have maps or really any data on the turbo its all we have. You're right, it could be tuned to fall on its face at 5k. But regardless of why, in stock form that is what it does.

Not sure if that is true^... they look like they are sized for mid-range power, as their patented location is so close to the motor, means they don't need super small turbos, for quick spool up.

What size is the 2.3 EB, compared to the 3.0 N55..? :shrug:

Since I was the one that originally asked what the boost was I'll explain why. When you know what it is stock and know the amount it was increased it tells you a little something about the motor, turbo, and fuel system.

Now maybe they increased power by something other than more boost. But without details who knows.

No one said anything about boost on one engine compared to a completely different motor, or different turbos ect.
