If anyone’s going this year, be sure to check this out. Saw one in person getting service at one of my local dealerships, it’s way cool to see in person.

Mark-
was the FordGT on a lift and if so, did you take any photos?
Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA never disappoints, a must see event!
hoping they display a 2025 Mustang GTD and perhaps a Mustang GT3 mule.
back in 2020 they had several FordGTs (photo below).

It was not on a lift when I saw it, they had it in a display area. It had already been serviced, they were waiting for the owner to come back to get it. I took a video but when I tried downloading it, it got corrupted ☹. I have the SD card still, hoping my brother in law can somehow salvage the video for me (he does that stuff for work so he’s way better with that kind of thing than I am).

The dealer posted it on their Instagram. Here’s a Carbon Edition they had in not long ago too.

We had a pretty good turn out at the 15 year at Carlisle (for the GT). 20 years, I would anticipate quite a few. I might take the 05, cant believe we have had it 20 years in October.

There’s not too many cars that make me get all giddy like a kid anymore but the GT is definitely one of them. I love the new ones but the 2005-2006’s just really capture the vibes of the original GT40’s.

Have both, the 2018 is a far superior "weapon" by every measurable metric. But the 05 has my heart, and I enjoy driving it over the 18 (dont get me wrong, the 18 is still quite entertaining).

Yea, I really like the 2005-2006 GT’s. Whoever bought one new and is still an original owner made out VERY well as far as price paid vs. price worth today. Those GT’s appreciated in value very quick.

That’s not to say the newer GT’s aren’t appreciating in value too, but the 2005-2006’s are true spirited GT’s with that V8 right behind your ears singing that V8 song . . . :)

The closest I am to owning a 2005-06 GT is the original Dealer’s brochures I picked up when those cars were new (photos from my library of collectibles …):

It’s one of my faves for sure. Even those that are second owners that had to pay up a bit will still make a decent buck should they decide to sell down the road.

Closest I’ll get to owning one is 1/18 scale, unless I win the lottery at some point.

I would love to see an original GT40 in person, I have yet to see one and I don’t even know if anyone in my area has one. I would assume anyone that has one has it stashed away in mothballs

I remember when the '05s went on sale for "only" ~$100K...thought it was a steal at the time. My dream car.

I remember reading comments, "I'll pick one up when the dip under $100k". Well that never really happened. Then after ~2007-2008, off they went, and never looked back. Got ours at sticker, $151k October 2005.

The first $1m sale (including commission), that I know of, was at Mecum this year. Astounding the increase in value a $15k paint job has (that was the price of the Heritage option).

Yes even though MSRP was $149k, many were being tagged with the ADM as high as $175k+ depending on who was the selling Dealership. Ford also did not have any rules in place that once purchased that the 05/06 GT could not be flipped or resold within X-days or years.

Do you still have the GT? If so, any images to share and how often do you take it out?

How difficult is it to get any GT parts for it now (years later)?

Most certainly still have it. Has 17k miles, so its driven some. Ours was on the showroom floor for $40 something over, but they wound up selling it for MSRP. Indeed, a dealer, and buyer could do as they pleased with regard to ADM, flipping etc. This is what paved the way for the allocation process of the NGT, and now the GTD. IMO this program good and it works.

Ford is really trying to keep the parts supply in decent shape, but some parts are challenging, headlights come to mind. Luckily the cars are VERY reliable, assuming you dont wreck it.

Did you get a GTD allocation too? Would be cool to have the two GT’s and a GTD in the garage
