Roush pays the dealer to flash tune updates. It is free to the customer. I wonder if Roush released the phase 1 tune first and that is what you have. Maybe the new tune released today is the 2021 phase 2? The hardware is identical. The only difference is the tune.

A Phase I tune wouldn't work on my Phase II, right?

it'll take whatever flash they put to it, so yes, you can flash 1 2 3 stage to it, is it going to match the hardware? the car doesnt know. it just puts info in.

let me rephrase that, since its aftermarket hardware, im pretty sure the car doesnt know what's what, so its up to the correct flash to push the hardware on it. its not going to throw any codes or anything because you dont have the correct radiator etc. so yes. I believe they could put the wrong flash on there.

but if you buy a stage 2 kit, and it was installed, they would prob install the correct flash tune.

ie. on mustang ecoboost, Cobb. we can install any tune we want, doesnt mean its the one we should have on our cars. it'll accept them all.

hell I installed GT abs firmware on my car lol. enabled line lock etc, I went back to eb software, but the car accepted it without issue.

The ONLY difference between phase 1 and phase 2 is the tune. The hardware is the same. Your dyno numbers are very low for phase 2. In any case, you are getting a new tune so it will be fine.

Phase 1 now has the same heat exchanger as phase 2.

What do you mean I don't have the correct radiator?

I was saying, the flash tune doesnt know what hardware you do or do not have. the flash doesnt know what your car is really. it simply accepts the flash and drives. they could put flash 2 on the car, or flash 3 or stage 1, and the car wouldn't throw any fits, just accepts it and drives.

@Matthewstorm log your throttle position and I think you’ll find it’s not opening all the way. Or at least it probably wasn’t on that dyno pull...

Matthew will be getting an updated tune as soon as he can get his car in so that dyno pull will no longer be representative.

That’s good but I don’t think his current calibration should do that either.

Agree. Roush must not have been happy with it either or they wouldn't have an update so soon. It usually takes them months to roll out tune tweaks. I am not sure what that first 2021 tune was all about but it was short lived.

I have Torque Pro but haven't used it in a coons age. I'd have to relearn the app.
