What a shitty way to rate "dependability" of a vehicle. I have yet to come across a well done infotainment system.

If they took ALL of the so called information screens out of the cars, the roads would be much safer for all of us,a bunch of crap that is NOT needed when your behind the wheel of a car.

I would have expected the vibration issues to be a bigger concern.

+1 !!! Ford builds some of the highest quality vehicles. Infotainment (SYNC) does not detract from the dependability of the car's primary purpose (transportation) or durability for my intended use (drag racing) one iota!

Infotainment should be a footnote in the JD Power quality surveys, in my opinion, as a slow Bluetooth or misunderstood voice command is not going to leave you stranded on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.

Dependability?

So...if Ford could just produce a nearly perfect sound system...even if panels don't match, drive shafts vibrate, etc. etc...the Mustang would get a big jump in 'dependability'?

Yeah, I agree with what others are saying. Dependability should center around what makes the car get from A to B (engine, transmission etc.) and should also include the integrity of the body (panels, paint etc.). Things like sync are just whistles and bells. Yeah, they should work and if they don't its good to point it out but a car should not take a big "dependability" hit because of a quirky "option."

Seriously? I didn't know a vehicle's dependability took the infotainment system as a factor. The only company that should be "dependable" is Tesla and any others that deliver OTA updates.

JD Power is complete garbage. The only thing that matters is that the drivetrain and electrical system is reliable. Computer gadgets are not what the mustang is about.

Saw foxnews.com. Didn't even click.

Here's a good read on the rating companies and why they are a bunch of bull:
http://consumerist.com/2010/05/10/can-you-trust-those-awards-you-see-in-auto-ads/
Basically, they charge for the right to be mentioned in manufacturing advertising, and also charge for 'recommendations' on how the product and be 'improved' so a higher rating can be achieved. Meanwhile Consumer Reports purchases their own product and don't allow manufacturers to use results in advertising.

Everyone should ignore JD Power. Until they actually separate mechanical reliability from infotainment bugs, their ratings will not be accurate. Same can be said for Consumer Reports.
