If I'm correct, the gauges can change colors. I'm wondering if Ford used two different sets of gauges, one set for premium and the other for base cars. What do you guys think? I would think maybe the same gauges are used, but wired differently? Curious because it would be cool if I could add my PP gauges into my custom ambient lighting.

I am quite sure that all the gauges are the same, it would be much cheaper. It would be simple just to not provide access in software to the ability to switch the colors of the LEDs.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Hopefully, I can figure out how to tap in.

I know my 06 came without the "my color" option. Later I added it but it took replacing the instrument cluster.

Like jbailer said, FWIW previous models have been an entirely different cluster.

I looked up the parts and can only find one number for the PP gauges, but several for the main cluster. There's different numbers between auto and manual and then I see mid and high series. Not really sure what that means.

There was another thread about a year ago where someone tried to reprogram the gauge cluster. I don't know how successful or unsuccessful they were but it's worth a search.
