I did it myself.

I think the hardest thing is getting the rings to seal properly. I burned through about 4 quarts of oil in 5k miles on my motor and spun a bearing. I let it sit and never saw a leak so I assume I was burning it although I didn't see any smoke.

I've never put the heads together as both motors I put together I had a shop disassemble, clean, and reassemble them.

Putting the motor together is really easy, just lots of steps so you need to make sure you don't miss something.

Do you know why your rings didn't seal correctly? Was it an issue with the ring gaps, an issue with the cylinder bores, or something else?
