I wear the same shoes I normally wear when I daily drive the car. I get a lot of practice heel and toeing during normal driving with those shoes, so I don't want to cause myself problems on a track day by wearing something else that I'm not used to.

I have a pair of Puma driving shoes. I like the shoes, but the Mustang pedals are so far apart that I ended up buying wider aftermarket pedals for the car. My normal shoes I wear every day were too difficult to heel and toe in properly - the shoe could easily fall between the brake and gas. So, IMO there's no need to buy a special, narrow driving shoe for use with the GT350. YMMV.

Used to wear Piloti's but like everyone else the pedal placement is horrible so I just wear sneakers. The wider toe of a running/x trainer helps reach across but it is still a stretch for my flexibility. I average about 60% success rate of proper shifts. The throttle needs to move out more and you need to close the gap between the pedals. It shouldnt require you to lift your thigh off the seat to reach both pedals. Thats what I feel like Im doing anyway.

I wear pumas, usually something like a drift cat or whatever I've got at the time.

As far as pedal placement, a steeda pedal cover can help, plus put washers on the studs behind the pedal to bring it up.

I used to have nomex Piloti to match my nomex gloves, so if I died in a fireball, they would find my feet and hands intact! I actually found that the soles hardened over time and became slippy on the pedals, so I dumped them. I did have some BMW race "slippers" that were super soft and perfect for feeling the pedals in my M3, but the Mustang pedals are too far away from each other and I now have the Puma sneakers with the wide unpadded toe that just about do the job.

Actually, my most consistent heel-toe shoes are a pair of Dr. Marten ankle boots. They are wide and stiff soled and make a really good long range lever, but pride prevents me from wearing to HPDE events...although being the crazy dude with Dr Marten boots might help with getting a clear track!

I found the same thing with an older pair of Pilotis. I ended up buying a pair of Puma Drift Cats but they're just too narrow for me, even with the Steeda pedal cover (and they're surprisingly slippery too.)

I have an older pair of Pumas that I don't even see on their website anymore, I have no idea what the model is but they've got a sole that's a bit wider than the Drift Cat and they are great for driving. I also like low top Chuck Taylors a lot since they're relatively wide and the sole is thin and you have good pedal feel.
