Focus/Fiesta ST owners

I've seen a few people mention that they have a ST so I'm just curious how many ST owners are considering a 6g Mustang.. If you are, are you replacing your ST or just adding it as a second car? If you're replacing it, why? I'm sure we all have our own reasons.

For me, it's just too damn small. I'm 6'7" and I'm already starting to wear through the seats. My head brushes the headliner and it's a pain to get in-and-out of without brushing up against something. I love driving it and that's what sold me, so hopefully the Mustang delivers on that as well. I've never considered the Mustang, but now that it has IRS and an Ecoboost (I love turbo 4s) it's almost a sure bet it'll be the ST's replacement (although, unlike the ST, this will be strictly a summer car).

I don't have one (I drive an '01 V6), but a FoST is the other vehicle I'm considering to replace my '01. The FoST is far more practical (4 door hatch vs coupe), but undoubtedly the S550 (in either form, EB or GT) will be faster and handle better.

I have a Focus ST
It is my commuting, winter car, car to drive if I have to take more than the GF, if I have to carry something big, the hatchback is nice, or if I have to go somewhere I am not comfortable driving the Mustang

The 2015 will replace my 2011 mustang

I am 5'9" so for me the Focus fits great, they are not a great car for big guys, especially with the recaros

Have you driven the ST? I wouldn't underestimate it It will no doubt be faster in a straight line but the ST corners like it's on rails. I'm really looking forward to driving the S550 to feel the contrast.

I think this is why I'm going to test drive my next car for much longer than the 30 minutes I drove the ST for. The seats are fine when you're driving "spiritedly" for a short time but when you just want to cruise they're absolutely terrible.

The Mustang is going to surprise the crap out of you.

I think this is why I'm going to test drive my next car for much longer than the 30 minutes I drove the ST for. The seats are fine when you're driving "spiritedly" for a short time but when you just want to cruise they're absolutely terrible.

This is my biggest complaint about the ST; at anything above the base trim level the Recaros are mandatory. There's no way to get a normal seat and still have MFT, projector beam HIDs, etc... :doh:

Yep, that's definitely mine as well... I wanted the HIDs and heated seats, so I had to go with the Recaros. I didn't think the base seats looked that nice anyways. Honestly, if this car had different seats I'd probably keep it. Unless the Mustang really does surprise the crap out of me, which it very well might...

ST has a terrible shifter. That thing feels like it has a foot of slop in it.

I have indeed (albeit briefly). The 'stang weighs more, but its much better balanced and has more tire (better compound?) as well. Plus RWD.

I have a Fiesta ST. Good little car. Will have had it 2 years by the time the Mustangs arrive over here in the UK. I'm 6'2" and fit in the Fiesta fine, although I wouldn't want to be any taller and would also appreciate more space. Power from the Fiesta with a tune is good, including torque.

The Mustang has Pirelli P Zero, about the worst performance tire ever , the all season P Zero's are even worse, I have heard Pirelli may have fixed some of the issues with the summer only P Zero's but I am very skeptical. They do ride great when brand new, but put a few miles on the, and they get bad very quick. I had to ditch my P Zeros after 10,000 miles when they started getting loud, and vibrating my mustang apart. 30,000 miles on my Michelins Pilot Super sports, are still running smooth as silk

The Focus ST has Goodyear Eagle F1's while not a perfect tire are so much better than the Pirelli POS tires, and work well on the ST

I can't tell you how the stock 2015 mustang seats will be for a bigger guy, the stock seats in the 11-14 mustangs are much better for a guy built like you. While they don't have big side bolsters like the recaros, they are comfortable seats. I am part of a big mustang club, we have a few big guys who have no issues with the stock seats. The mustang recaros are better for a bigger guy than the Focus recaros, but don't think they will be the seats for you

The stock 15 seats look a little sportier, so only time will tell if they will work for a bigger guy

I have a Fiesta ST and it will remain my daily drive. Mustang will be for weekends only.

I have a fiesta ST that I got for a daily. I've had it on track a few times and it is a hoot to drive. I will be keeping it when I get my 2015.

Woops. Totally forgot about that. I keep thinking the PP comes with pilot super sports, but Im just going to do that soon as the OEMs wear out.
I think when wearing the same tires (with OEM sizes) the Mustang is still going to out handle the FoST.

speaking of the Focus ST, they made it look a lot better for 2015!! I love the new flat bottom steering wheel, love the darker dash and newer layout. The new headlights and tail lights ar much sleeker !! Ford Rocks !!
