Fellas -

For those of you that have ordered - is this the first time you’ve ordered a car without knowing the usual ‘key stats’?

Weight
0-60
Track performance
Any actual reviews

For me it will be. Usually I’ve actually seen the car in person - this would be the first time I haven’t.

Any hesitations or reservations? I know limp mode for us 2016 Tech Shelby owners caught a lot of people off guard. Corvette had overheating issues as well in the Z06.

I’m back and forth between two cars currently but have been in mustangs since
I was 16 and sold my 2017 GT350r last November. Been waiting on this but was hoping to know a bit more before pulling the trigger.

Sort of on topic, does anyone in the know have an embargo dates for review releases?

I think the Supra embargo ended the day ordering opened for example. Is the GT500 embargo sept 9th?

Excuse the ignorance - why would it be September 9? I know we can order now.

Great question though.

First day of production I think.

Sept 9 seems to be the date on the bottom of everyone’s order form. It’s an educated guess by me.

I had a 03 Cobra that I got in June of 02. One of the first one's made. I ordered it way before any magazine tests. At the time it made a whopping 390hp.. That car turned out to be a legend. When I ordered it the dealer didn't even know what the heck it was and I didn't have to pay an ADM. The problem is that Ford takes forever to release the car to be tested. If you wait that long you are almost guaranteed to have to pay an ADM. I found it's better to get out in front of it. 760hp DCT.. That's all I needed to hear.

It is definitely a leap of faith. However, deposits are generally refundable and everyone wants the car, so you can always back out. As long as you are not ordering some weird ass color combo that would affect resale, then it would be a no brainer. You can always back out.
