Picking up a set of pre-owned wheels tomorrow 9.5X20 squared setup.

I am looking for some quick information on tires. Don't want to spend a fortune.

I have narrowed it down to the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 or the Cooper Zeon RS3-S. There is only $10 difference between the two, with the Cooper being the higher priced tire.

Planning on going with 275/35/20 all the way around.

Is this a good size that should not have any fitment issues? Which of the two tire choices would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Bit large for 9.5, but should definitely fit fine. Indy 500s get great reviews all around.

The Indy runs a little narrow compared to many. 275/35 fits on a 9.5" nicely.

I think a 9.5 would be a perfect fit for a 275, there is just a tiny bit of stretch on my 10 wheels with them. I think my next set of tires I'll probably go with 285's now that I know they will not rub anywhere.

Indy 500 all day every day over the Cooper's. Just for kicks, is this for a daily driver or what kind of usage/conditions will the tires see? I can't imagine a scenario where the Cooper's outperform the Indy 500s though.

Fitment wise, what is the offset of the 20x9.5" wheels? The 275 fits nicely on them though and as long as the offset is between ET30 and ET40, you're good to go.

I've run both of these tires. For me, the Firestones are better overall. When I had the Coopers, they really liked to flat spot when sitting overnight, where the firestones didn't. For daily driving, either tire is a good choice, but for me, when pushed to their limit, the firestones held up better to aggressive driving.

As for size, if you're running a 9.5" wide rim, that tire size is fine - as long as it's the correct offset. For me, both looked good / worked well on the back of the PP1 wheel which is a 19X9.5.

What kind of life are you getting out of them if you're on your third set?

Well i have them on my other cars as well. The mustang set has around 30k on them and they are getting close to needing replacement. I rotate every 3k miles and they have been great.

I've had Cooper Zeon tires. Same as Mickey Thompson Street Comps, effectively. They're a good tire at a low price and they lasted a while, were quiet. I've never personally had the Indy 500 but unless you're going on track, I'd just get the cheaper of the two. If you are going to track your car, okay get the Indy 500s. I doubt they'll last as long as the Coopers though. Also nice that the Cooper's will benefit a US company.

Im going to Say Firestone Indy 500 tires, we do a lot of setups with that rubber and our clients love them.

For the price and how grippy they are their badass.

Sorry for not knowing but what does this mean "there is just a tiny bit of stretch?"

Fit almost perfect but no rim protection.

Stretch is when he wheel is slightly wider than the tire. Supposedly it's ideal for handling but I prefer the look of flush or even a little bulge. Bulge happens when the tire is wider than the wheel.
