Gotta ask. How did you "smooth things over"?

I was curious about the same thing.

I started laying the groundwork on my purchase in June 2-3 months ago. I got the green light so no surprises.

But had I not done that, she'd probably have crucified and denutted me if I sprang it on her!!

I've been laying the ground work for awhile too. She even saw my GT350 manifold when it came it. But she didn't expect it so soon.

I took a multi-pronged approach.

Assured her about our finances.

Flattered her....beautiful woman should be in a beautiful car...something like that. (Our other cars are a minivan and a 2003 Maxima) She saw right through this but still loved it.

Jumped all over a home renovation project that has been languishing (cost me more money!)

And the last one is personal

I did similar...but it didn't take much assuring financially. See we've been paying $1k/mo for the last 5 years for my son's day care. Now, it's just a matter of writing it out to someone different for the car for another two years and boom...I've got a Mustang GT free and clear!!

....there may have been something about us having another child afterward though... :shrug:
