I get the whole marketing thing with the EB, but since the V6 has been a staple of the Mustang almost all throughout the 50 years of history ( except the Fox bodies). I don't see why Ford can't offer a package for the V6 that gives us some added goodies. I think a "Premier" package consisting of the 051A package and adding GT brakes, power passenger seat, toggle switch/drive modes, sync3, and perhaps 3.7L badges, faux gas cap with the tribar in it and perhaps the chrome surrounds for the taillights (like the anniversary package)- would be fantastic! It would give us V6 owners more capability (drive modes, touch screen, SAT Radio, better brakes) and should Ford want to do away with the V6, well this would be a good send off. I know we don't get much love from Ford, but I think they should listen to owners and offer what they are demanding :) any thoughts?

I think Ford knows that anyone who wants a V6 pony car is going to get a camaro going forward. It comes in premium trims plus 330hp so unless you just like the exterior/price of the stang more the camaro is the obvious choice. Ford isn't going to invest in a battle of the V6s at this point

^^If Ford thinks that, they should be ashamed.

I doubt Ford thinks that way. Also, I doubt purchasers shop that way. The majority of folks who get a v6 aren't going to care about 300 v 330 hp. And one of the biggest advantages, IMO, of the Mustang over the Camaro are the sightlines while sitting in the driver's seat.

Side note, I thought the 6 was available throughout all 50 years??

I agree with you completely!

Its just kind of a downer that Ford went into reverse with the V6 in this newest model. I mean, at least keep the Premium trim at bear minimum if you have too. Not like that would detract from EB sales whether it was there or not. And I agree with a good send-off like you said should they decide to retire the model.
And in that case, (and this is wishful thinking) but give us a EB 3.5 or 3.7 version to go out on. If it would be anything like the current Taurus engine, a EB V6 would be one force to be reckoned with. Just the kind of send out it needs :D

I like the idea of a good send off with some kind of final run upgrade package. But I feel like you guys don't realize how close it was to not even being put in a 2015. They made the decision at the last minute just as a low cost price leader

And I absolutely think ppl who buy a V6 still care about power, they just want it cheaper and with better mileage. Hell I might even be driving a V6 camaro right now if it had been out at the same time as the mustang and I'm sure a lot of ppl here would too

Sure people buy cars for horsepower but looks also play a factor, IMO the Mustang looks so much better, a few more horses doesn't make a difference to me.

The camaro is my least favorite of the mustang and the challenger. Not as good looking as either and for the extra hp the v6 has its not any faster then the v6 mustang.

The 2015 Mustang Vert is an engineering and visual bull's-eye. Is the V8 worth $20K plus CND over the V6 plus 75 cents more a US gallon for 93 octane? Certainly not to me in a jurisdiction with so low speed limits and heavy penalties. Many factors play into personal purchases. If Ford had not offered the Vert with the V6 I'd be without a Ford.

I'm a huge proponent of the V6 and i feel this engine deserves more love from Ford. People in the U.S. want this engine, so what Ford should do is perhaps not offer it in Europe while allowing U.S. and Canada the option with some increased content. I can say that no matter how beautiful this car is- if it didn't have the V6 I wouldn't have been able to buy one, and although I could've had the EB base, I didn't like the way it sounded so I wouldn't have bought one at all at this time. This is a great car and a great engine, and I will upgrade as time goes on so eventually I'll have a more premium car.

This is exactly how I feel, while I do believe that base comes with much more than what people would consider "base", like rear view camera, keyless entry and start, AC, etc... and is really enough to me.
The EB is a powerful option, but I couldnt stand this engine sound in my first ever mustang...
So most likely, in 5 years, when my V6 is paid, I can trade it in for a GT, but I'm not even sure since 300HP, the fuel economy of the V6 and the insurance fares seems more than enough for me :)

For sure. It's called the "base model" but what's been upgraded from last generation's "base model" is out of this world... w/o raking your wallet. And 300 horses as a DD is nothing to sneeze at.

All this "buzz" about the S550 2015 Mustang "Base" V6 Convertible being an "el-cheapo" Rental Car filler is pure BS! Adding the 051A Package and having a nicely equipped Roadster for an MSRP of 32K? I call that a Grand Slam Home Run Bargain! I have no issue with those that Opt for the "Premium" EB 2.3 I4 or GT 5.0 V8 Fans but the (value) is in the Base V6 Vert!

I currently own a 2012 MCA edition V6. I think it's a spectacular car for the money! It's a crying shame how Ford and the Automotive media has treated the S550 V6. Honestly I think ford will faze out the V6 in the next year or two. I get it. They want to sell EBs in this country for CAFE standards. As well as how cars in Europe are taxed by displacement. But the 180 the automotive media has done in the las 4 years is sad. In 2011 ever magazine called the v6 special! Now the S550 is out and obviously a better car than the S197 and Motor trend wants to convince everyone the only way to enjoy a V6 is to rent one.
