Heard something today that gave me the light bulb moment.

Ford called the Mach E a mustang so the mustang fleet gas mileage average would go up. By doing this Ford gets to keep a high HP V-8.

Don't know if this is true but makes sense to me.

I’ve heard that before also. I thought it was overall fleet average and not specific to any one model but I haven’t read the rule closely enough to know for sure.

If Mach E needs to exist so that V8 can keep on living, I have no problems with it, whatever it's called. And let's be honest, it is one of the best electric suv's out there despite being a 1st gen product.
I see where you’re going with this but I’ll have to disagree. They could’ve picked a brand new name like they did with the Dork Horse. Why sully the name. Just waiting until we see a Cobra E and a Boss E and then tell me where we’re going with this. And God forbid they throw Shelby into the mix with an electric car.

I wish Ford would go back to making other cars instead of going all in on trucks and SUV’s. Seems short sighted to me 🤷🏻‍♂️
They go where the money is. And while it funds mustangs and broncos and raptors and shelbys, we should take a moment and appreciate this fact. I'd love to see a focus rs again, but it is what it is

Not going to lose my sleep if that happens. It was a bold move with the naming and it backfired, but whatever. The reason is probably the same as making Unreal 4 animations a centerpiece of new mustang marketing strategy. What do I know to tell them to do otherwise. After all, I don't think Shelby had anything against electric tech.

I don't believe anything this guy says. But then again, as long as Ford can offer remote access and online surveillance with an ICE vehicle, an EV is not required by the government.
