This is one of the reasons I'm not keen the 18MY Mustang with it's overload of electronics (dashboard particularly) and nannies. I want a car, not a bloody laptop on wheels/spaceship!
Agreed but you're fighting a losing battle! People want cars that flash LEDs/lights at them, speak to them, change gear for them, nanny them home and eventually steer/drive for them.

To be honest, if it is the clutch sensor then its only a cheap part (probably <€1 to manufacture).... just one of those things.

Apparently in the US there has been a TSB for faulty sensors. Car is booked in for Thursday. The Mrs. took the GT to work this morning and it started up OK using the clutch and brake pedal. So now we know our way around it, its fine in the mean time.

Just annoying we had to call the AA and that nothing is mentioned in the manual about such a situation.

Why not try disconnecting the battery, wait for a couple of minutes before reconnecting.

This might reset the sensors.

Theyve 'diagnosed' the clutch pedal sensor as being kaput.

TBH I dont think theyve diagnosed anything, but are taking a punt on that being the cause.

Hopefully itll be the right fix, because if its not I think things get a lot more complicated....!

Part arrives tomorrow, so they're kepping the car overnight.

S60 pressed in to service for the commute!

Would have thought if a sensor was faulty it would show up in diagnostics.
Hopefully they've identified the culprit.

Its fixed!

But a surprising result, and some bad luck!

In the end it was the fault of the GPS tracking / hi-jack system I have on the car.

When I was on the boat (a big metal cage, in hindsight) the system couldnt reach a GPS or GSM signal, so went in to spaz/lockdown mode and immobilised the car (it does this by blocking the clutch pedal signal, so the car wont start)!

Obviously when I was pressing buttons and desperately trying to get the bugger to start, I hit the brake pedal and it sprung in to life.

Thats the unlucky part - the installers hadnt done a Mustang before, and didnt realise the Ford logic, so that needs to be rectified and the brake pedal blocked as well.

.... once I was back to the car today with the emergency magnet (used as a bypass) it fired right up in the normal way. The tracker has since been reset and now it all works as it should again.

Credit to the Ford dealer, they replaced the pedal sensor with the updated version (so future proofed now) and also spent about 2hrs on fault finding, for which I havent been charged. Its gone on warranty.

Ahhhh... the joy of electronics on modern day cars... how did we ever live without them?

Very happily if my memory serves me correctly  !

This and similar is why I think that the extended 5 year FORD warranty is essential. Any problem with the electronics after 3 years could cost a fortune to fix.
Think he's pretty lucky it was done under warranty. They could have easily refused it as it wasn't a fault of OEM equipment
