The title of the thread is extreme performance and he specifically said for autox use. So why in the world would you bring up rain performance(the RE71R isnt bad in rain btw, assuming there is usable tread) and comfort?

Fact of the matter is, if you want the stickiest, best autox tire then the RE71R is it. Maybe the RS4 will be as good? Dont know yet.
Because it's a big picture comment explaining a trade-off of a more dry focused tire, autoX are also run in the wet and he has to drive to and from the track and will likely be driving on the street with it.

I agree the RE71R is probably the stickiest autox-focused tire in that class.

Yes, no EP tires in the stock sizes. Though their are a fair number of Max Performance tires (which are ironicly a lower performance category).

But a little diameter change is not a big deal and will not freak out the ABS, TC, etc. If you autocross, sticking to stock size MP tires is going ro put you at a fairly serious disadvantage. For FS, the top choice seems to be 285/35s RE71R's all around, with some who don't want to go outside the rexomended size range for the stock wheels using 275/35 F & 285/35 R.

Even if you want to stay as close as possible to the stock diameters (at the price of using lower grip MP tires), I would still try to maximize the tire size and use something like a 275/40 F and 285/40 R MPSS.

Going smaller in diameter isn't a problem as long as you do it front and rear. I wouldn't do a 40 front sidewall with a 35 rear.

I just put the new ContinentalExtremeContact Sports on my GTPP on Monday of this week. 285/35/20 up front and 305/35/20 out back. These tires are the REAL deal. WOW...is all I can say.

I had the Goodyear Supercar F1 G2 on my car for 18 months in the same sizes. I thought their grip was great in the turns. The Conti destroys that tire in every aspect. It is not even close.

Here is another review with track times and tons of data to support my feelings, too.

Nice to see these already out and people using them.

Who has the best prices on those sizes you purchased?

At this time, TireRack did. They have a new distribution center 30 minutes from me so I just ran there and picked them up. Saved me $120 in shipping costs.

Are there any Extreme Performance tires in the GT PP OEM sizes? I'm talking tires like Potenza RE11, Eagle F1 Supercar G2, or Azenis RT615K. I haven't found anything that is made in both our staggered sizes. If I can't find anything, will probably "settle" for MPSS.

I know the Doraville warehouse where I picked my up at had 5 total when I ordered mine. So that left 3.

I just checked tirerack and they have some down at the Midway warehouse and they can be in my hands by 3/6.

Midway is a hike for both of us, I'm going to wait for Doraville to get more in stock to save on the shipping costs.
I need stickier tires, my current NT555's spin through 4th easily.
