And Ford does it again....."Oh we don't offer service plans and haven't done so since I have worked here" said the service girl behind the desk to me and the dealer when we inquired about it on day of paper work!! I will now be popping in to find out what is offered to me and also to find out what the individual services cost because I don't plan to keep it past my 3 year term so technically I will only need to pay for 2 services and not the 3rd.
And any of the surprises you [emoji12]

I still can't understand why they require us to purchase this up front rather than at any time during the warranty period. Looks like I better find some more for delivery day....

Its just like any other type of insurance. Ford value the extended warranty, then discount it based on how many years in advance they get the money. i.e. they are offering us an insurance policy that doesn't start carrying risk until 3 years time.

so if fords cost of capital is, say, 7% then you take the 540 (or 590 if you are twiggy) and accumulate the interest @ fords cost of capital to the mid point of the warranty extension. Its potentially worth more like £707 to ford to pay for any warranty claims

For me its excellent value because an extra £540 in my bank account earns 0.02% - so in 3 years time the 540 is worth £543 - practically the same. if you have to borrow money to buy the warranty then it will cost more.

the numbers above are made up. but just illustrating the point that the risk vs premium would've been calculated based on getting the cash flow in on day the car is 1 day old. as each day passes the premium would need to increase to be worth the same to Ford.

Please look at the 29/02/2016 price list mentioned above for the correct prices and you can also buy a 2 year service plan for £390.00

My dealer say that the 3 year service plan is a saving of £217.00 which is at todays prices and I expect prices will rise more during the 3 years which will give a bigger saving.

Regardless of whether you buy a service plan or not you still need to have your Mustang serviced to preserved the warranty and resale value. The Mustang annual service will be a fixed price set by Ford.

You can download exactly what is involved in minor and major service schedules from the Ford ETIS website and please be aware you won't be very pleased because apart from an oil and filter change a full service involves not much more than a visual inspection but the price is fixed so you have to pay it or get a service plan.

2 year service plan at 390. And a standard service for it is what? Sub 100? The mustang isn't a Ferrari. Surely it won't lose value being serviced at somewhere that isn't ford or renowned among the mustang community?

Sorry opening another kettle of fish here lol!

* edit: ignore me just searched a service for the GT is £199.99 at Halfords.same for ecoboost. Way worth the money if it's £200 a service!
Cough save you a tenner ;)

A service for under £100.00, Are you joking?

My last Focus service was £325.40. Owning any car is not cheap.
See the edit. I'm used to doing mot and service for 100 quid lol!

Will definitely be doing the service every year to 1) look after car and 2) preserve the warranty. The only thing is, is it cheaper to just pay for the first 2 services individually (what is the price for each service? My ford dealership could not confirm a couple of months back) OR pay for the 2 year service plan and give the car back before it's due it's 3rd service.

Have sent an email to Modurstang asking for their service pricing. Regardless my car will never see the dealer again unless it's warranty
Tell us the price of it and I'll weigh it up :).

Weigh it up against what or do you know the individual service pricing from Ford and I don't mean the package they now offer?

I meant the package, which works out at 195 per year(390 for 2 yrs). And vs Halfords which is 199 per yearly service.

Modurstang, gt101, Bill and any other mustang renowned workshops would be worth hearing their servicing prices per service or for a 2 year package etc.

By way of an update - challenged dealer on the price and (as I thought) the salesman had mistakenly added the service package cost (£590) under the heading of the extended warranty (£540). Refunded accordingly. Thanks for heads up Actual!

I'd like to think this was an honest mistake....
