Hello everyone! I just signed up here. I have been a member of ModdedMustangs for a while, but they don't have much info on 2015's. So upon doing a google search, I found this place. Seems like a great community!

So, I had a 2012 that I bought new back in dec. 2011. I had it for a year, wanted a rock crawler, so I traded it in on a dodge cummins. I regretted trading it, as I really missed my car. I bought a 2000 GT and put nitrous on it, but it just wasn't the same. I traded my car in on Wed. for a gray 2015 mustang gt base. I am amazed at what features the base's have.

Anyway, I am aware the exhaust is totally different than the 11-14's unfortunately. I just bought BAMA tunes for this 15' eariler. What is everyone doing for exhaust? I thought about pre-ordering the flowmaster pro series axle back. I was wanting to eliminate the cat's as well, and I know MAC has a solution for that, but I am somewhat leary since everything is so new to the market. I don't like being a guinea pig lol.

Not only that, I am not even sure if BAMA will tune for the deletes yet.

I went with the Magna Flow Street Series Cat-Back.

What all does the catback get rid of on these cars?

Cat back would be the best place to start. Just a lot to gain in power along with some decent amount of weight loss. Ford racing and Stainless Works are on my short list but going to wait till spring for that purchase. See what Borla decides to put out.

You do know Ford Racing Exhausts are made by Borla?

I installed a Stainless Works Catback and have an AiRaid CAI with Bama tunes. The car pulls hard and sounds as someone on here said "like sex on wheels". I get a lot of compliments and window roll downs to listen to it.

What kind of pricing do you got going on? The stainless works doesn't seem very much louder than stock. Magnaflow, I love the sound of, but they are pricey. I had their muffler deletes on my 12'. I was mainly looking to go with an axle back right now, because I am sure here in 6 months, there will be all kinds of x pipe's out there for 300 bucks or so just like there are for 11-14's. The Flowmaster pro series really looks nice for 399 (axle back), and I plan on possibly buying the mac cat deletes, and I have a zex nitrous kit I pulled off my 2000 that I plan on installing on my 15'. I need to talk with BAMA and see what shot they will tune for on these 15's. On my 2000 they would only tune for 100 shot...but it looks like they have been spraying 150 shot and breaking 9's

Give me a shout and we can go over some options for you. We have great pricing on the stainless works and magnaflow over the black Friday holiday.

I can be reached tomorrow too at 513-478-1965

I'm sure I'm just being naïve, but I just opened the box for my new exhaust system to make sure everything was there (I plan to install this Friday if my car arrives as expected) and the 3" tubing is huge, particularly when you look at the area where it necks down to the factory 2.5". That change in diameter has truly got to make the engine breath a lot easier! I did some basic geometry to check the difference in area between the two sizes and the stock 2.5" came in at 19.63 Square inches, while the 3" MF came in at 28.27 square inches this is a much larger cross section, and will induce a much easier flow. Any opinions?

Too large and the exhaust gases lose heat and in turn lose velocity exiting.

The key is to have a balanced system.

Without data from every system it's hard to say what's better and in which scenarios.

I am really torn between what to do. Part of me tells me to just wait, give it some time, and more options will come out. Since I am wanting to go with a cat delete of some sort (and I know that MAC makes them right now) later on, then I hate to get something now.

Here is what my thinking is. On my 12', I had a buddy that was going to get rid of his. I bought his Magnaflow axleback muffler deletes. Once BAMA came out with their lope tune, I bought an offroad X to get rid of the cat's and resonators. I bought the offroad x for like 325 bucks shipped. It was bolt on, and I had essentially a full exhaust minus headers for about $600 that sounded GREAT, and had awesome gains. However, it was a little loud, so I figured this time, i want a muffler of somesort.

Now, with that being said. I was tempting on doing somewhat of the same thing. Flowmaster outlaw series which is a 3". I figured next, I would buy the mac cat deletes. Hack off the cats and weld the flange on. Next, I figured that I would buy an offroad x to get rid of the resonators. I figured I would have less than 1k into a full exhaust with deletes. Thoughts/opinions??

Oh, and if I go with a catback, I will more than likely go Magnaflow over the Stainless Works.

Its not quite that simple, especially if you still have the stock headers and cats with the smaller diameter. There are a lot of factors including thermal concerns that affect the performance of the exhaust.

Magnaflow competition catback or SW w/ X pipe? I cannot decide between the 2. I have always liked Magnaflow, but a lot go with SW...Not much info on the 15's though.

EDIT- I think I am going with the SW x pipe. Going to place my order now.

Its not quite that simple,.
+1

Exhaust gas flow really is rocket science :).

On the upside, it doesn't seem like the Mustang is particularly sensitive to small changes. I'm basing this on the fact that catback & axle back exhaust systems seem to be designed with sound as the #1 priority with performance sometimes not even being mentioned or apparently measured.

I'm curious why Ford Racing/Borla went with a 2 1/2 pipe rather than a 3. I don't know if it was based on performance, or cost, or weight, or none of the previous. When I was shopping part of my thought process was that FR had the most opportunity (time and available vehicles) for development, access to a slew of factory engineers, and the most to lose by marketing a mediocre product.
That may all be incorrect, just my thinking.
