And what about an H-pipe with the stock mufflers?

- won't be as loud as an axle-back or cat-back,
- probably your best chance not to have any drone,
- is known for classic muscle car rumble,
- get you better flow and less weight over the stock resonator,
- and is the cheapest option as well

If that sounds like something you'd like, shoot! Would love to set you up :)

Yes this is the way I wish to go....do all H-pipes sound the same?? My GT is in the country...I pick it up next week!!!

I changed to the Roush axle backs and love the sound so much better. Also these are within your budget.

I'm beginning to thank that putting an H-Pipe in in place of the stock resonator might be a good option, but I'd need to be driven in a car with this set up to see if it's the right one. Yes it's only 2 cuts, but if you decide you don't like it and want an axle back system instead, that means you'd have to put the resonator back in with some extra clamps then make two more cuts further down the remaining stock pipes to fit axle backs. It'd end up being a bit Frankenstein!

Congrats!! The wait is over :eyebulge:

Yes, sound of the different H-pipes made for our cars shouldn't be to different. Biggest difference is the material and price.

After many months of deliberation I've decided to go for the Roush axle backs (got the wife's stamp of approval on them)... but not sure where to get them from.

I know there's a lot of you out there that have them fitted... so can anyone point me to the best place in the UK (hopefully somewhere that's got them in stock)?

Think you might struggle as still waiting for mine to come into stock:shrug:
Hi,

Yes, there is currently no stock of these in the UK. A stock order should be due to land this weekend. But we believe they are currently all spoken for. If you wish to contact us, we can put you on a reserve list and let you know as soon as these can be expected to be supplied.

This is exactly what I was going to recommend, it gives a lovely sound and is all positives.

There are a few companies already offering these for low cost around £200 or go to any exhaust shop and get them to custom make you one and fit it, again around £200-£300.

H pipe: More traditional V8 rumble with a deep tone.
X pipe: V8 rumble down low, more rasp up top.

The H-pipe gives the best sound on stock axle backs. :)
