Well I decided that whilst I haven't got my hands on my car, I've placed my order anyway (keen? me? YES!!).

It can sit in my garage along side the US style "GT" decklid!

Would you know the sizes of your plate? Or got a photo? If it's like the US ones, you could always get a US-style bracket. Would be happy to help save your bumper!

Just off to grab it from the car... it's sat in the front window!

Ok it's 36cm x 11cm... worried it may look a little odd on the US one unless I had a plate made to fit... Land Rover style.

Standard US is 304 x 152mm (12" x 6") so you could get a custom plate made to 360 x 152mm to make it look 'like' an american size plate (just 56mm wider but most wouldn't notice the difference) and then mount it on a US bracket.

Also, are the gaps between the numbers/letters and the left/right edges at the minimum amount (11mm) as if not this may allow you to reduce the width a little more?

Hm.. normal bracket for eu plates is around 45cm. So what Nookie is suggesting sounds like a better plan. That, or keep your normal plate and molest (aka customize) the bracket :D

Sounds a good plan Nookie! I can have any size plate made up so that's fine. Thanks for your help!!

I deliberately purchased a number that I knew would fit on a US sized plate and be fully legal size-wise (ANPR systems have issues reading the numbers if they're reduced in size or incorrectly spaced and you're more likely to get pulled by plod) and because the UK/EU plates look horrible (in my opinion) on these cars.

I have the original plate holders supplied with the car in my garage (I told the dealer to stick the standard plates they were supplying to the car with double sided tape just for initial registration and collection) and they're bloody huge, and again (in my opinion) totally ruin the look of the car.

I'm fitting the US sized ones this coming weekend on my US Sto-n-Sho... and they're a must have as far as I'm concerned, plus they keep with the originality of the car, which is after all American, and allow me to use genuine US number plate surrounds.

Appreciate though that this isn't possible for everyone if the amount/type of letters and numbers in your registration just won't fit on a US sized plate (in my case, a six digit/one letter with four 1's fitted better than a five digit/one letter with three 1's).

This is mine. Originally had a shortened UK style but that looked a little odd on my US sto n sho so I fitted a US sized plate with an FP surround.

Ahhh... thanks SteveS... that's the exact picture, of your car ( in of course the best colour, with black wheels just like mine :D ), which made me decide to go for the US Sto-n-Sho with US sized plates/surrounds.

That just looks killer... and so much better than having the black UK/EU plastic dinner tray attached to the front of the car!

I'm very fond of it ;)

Looks even better when you pull the pin and remove it. No plate officer? Sorry, must have forgotten to refit it after the meet... :D

This is mine on a US sto n show.

Legal sized plate. Illegal spacing on number plate. The second 8 should be on the top row
It works well. All I see when I look at your plate is V8 :)
