Hi everyone,

I've just joined, as only now found out that my GT has been built (thanks to this thread and the Ford AU Facebook team). Bit jealous that @noddy orderedin November and got the same build date as mine (30.06.16).

Dealer experience on this has been shocking!
Ordered on 28th Septemeber 2015 (expected 11-12 months delivery), had to chase up my order, chase up the demo car test drive as was I was told all pre-orders get first drive, "oh yeah the car arrived a couple of weeks ago, it's fully booked for the next 1.5 weeks".
Chase up again for updates on delivery (change in saleperson) and told build November, delivery Feb 2017. Left it a few months, thought at end of June I had better check again, and get told its being built late July and to expect delivery in October.

After no reply from dealer on request for the VIN, I contacted Ford AU this morning and they quickly replied telling me that the car had been built and just arrived at Baltimore, and to touch base in early August to vessel info :O

How can dealers have such different info available to them from Ford AU Facebook? Read this story so many times through the forums, it is truly crazy customer service. Lucky I checked as my finances were planned for February so now I've had to arrange a short term novated lease to cover it due to being brough forward 5 months.

Anyway I'm happy, 2017 Mustang GT Ingot Silver Auto - on its way shortly :)

contacted Deysha and my car has left the plant and is nearly at baltimore. if it's about 4 weeks in baltimore then i guess i might be on the Tamerlane..
I was a bit worried when my car built 30/05 did not get to Baltimore until 01/07 but I got on Fidelio that sailed 6 days later!

You just can't tell...

Hi Mitch, yours is the same order date & build date. The only difference being is, that I've been kept up to date by my Ford Dealer. I can't fault them, :) Now hopefully we get on the same boat!!!

Hi Mick, thats good to hear! Looks like from your date you ordered a month after mine... I'm glad they brought the build dates forward though, and I'm not so bothered by the delay now since they are built as 2017 spec. Worth the wait.

That's no good ....

However what you have to understand is that there is a year plus wait and whether or not the dealer updated you at every point it doesn't make it arrive any sooner.

You just have to sit back and be patient, we have all been down the same road.

My dealer has been great and he did Not update me daily

I understood that it was a year wait when I bought the car, so entered into that agreement. Certainly wouldn't want daily updates, but like I said I've now had to make financial changes to cover the car being early and I wouldn't have known unless I did the chasing.

I think it would be a pretty simple task for them to run a check over all open accounts once a month and update the customer whether the schedule has changed or not.
Also don't forget it's not a courtesy either, we pay for it in the price of the car and in the rort that is $2000+ of 'dealer delivery charges'. I don't think they really care about the customers, and that is not a good look to have.

My dealer Bayford in Epping has been great....
I ordered there as well. The problem is not only with the dealers, the problem is also with Ford AU.

Ford AU isn't transparent on the process how they're placing the orders with Ford US. Hence the dealerships don't have any visibility so they can't provide any info. There are a handful of people managing all the AU orders and how they get submitted to Flat Rock.

On the other hand, the dealership should follow up with a monthly check-in (whether it's a call or an email) and provide a regular update, even though there isn't any news. I would much appreciate a "no update" call rather than sitting and waiting for 11 months without any comms.

I tend to get more info from the FB page than my dealer.

Also, after sending a few emails to Ford US and directly to Mark Fields, the marketing team from Ford AU started a different conversation with me and now I'm getting direct regular follow ups from them. I think we all need to put the pressure on them so that they can do something about it.

We are at the bottom of the list with the waiting times, behind UK and Europe. It's unacceptable in this century to wait 12+ months for a car!

The answer I keep getting is "there are so many hours in the week". Well Ford US should invest a bit more cash to up their production, don't you think?

I tend to agree with everything you have said about the customer service. Whoever is managing the communication process is failing massively and hopefully by exposing them through Ford US the displeasure will result in some action. All the new world marketing is there for the units they sell, but no service to actually back it up.

With the 12 month wait, I think it's ok if that is communicated and stuck to. But as I understood it the Mustang wait list was just a line and ticket number, and when the RHD production comes along its 1st come 1st served.
But when you look at the UK forum and see people are ordering them inside Q1 2016 and are receiving them in 6-7 months I think that shows a terrible lack of commitment to AU customers! Not like there is shortage of RoRo ships making the crossing to use as an excuse either. Their logistics strategy is pretty strange.

The feedback I got from my dealer was, that the 12+ month delay is about the 5 lt. models.
The Ecoboosts have a normal delivery of up to 6 months.

A friend of mine in Greece got his EB in 6 and a half months.

I have seen that happening before with popular cars; I remember in Greece, back in 2005 I believe, in order to get the VW Golf GTi there was a waiting period of 12 months. And the car was coming from Germany to Greece not from the US to AU, but there was such a demand that they could not predict.

Anyway I believe that they did not expect such a massive success of the model plus that it was the first time they were building the RHD ones.

Ford are all fucked, they dont know whats going on..
I ordered 30 dec, finally got my nsc mid june after ringing my dealer and asking for it.
So i gave it to Ford on facebook. They replied no news on build as yet, but my order is in their system. So i asked when the dealer actually placed the order,i got this as a reply.

Ford Australia
Hi Tim, we can't see when a Dealership submits an individual order to Ford AU; only the date the order was *accepted* by the US logistics/scheduling folks (in your case, mid May). Your Dealership may have tried to submit your order ASAP but Ford AU may not have been able to accept the submission until a certain date. In every order we look up (including yours), it is a number of weeks after a customer orders at a Dealership to when Ford AU logistics can accept the order. Then a number of weeks again before Flat Rock assigns the Ford AU order into its scheduling (which generates the NSC). If you would like to come back to us later in the year we will be happy to check for any new information. Thanks FordService^CZ

5 months till in their system.

A pathetic ordering system.
