I 100% agree, my car is unloaded in 8 days at fremantle then the wait begins from dealer to me....This last bit is the hardest by far. It went like this

Order car: ...Happy Happy tell everyone...but you know its a long wait

You get your NSC number.:...woohoo stuff is happening wait is still long

You get a VIN: Wow this is good I can track it a bit more now and torture myself that bit extra.

Window sticker: geeze hang on this is really real, may not be a unicorn after all, AND they hide a little build date in the window sticker a bit Davinci coded.

SHE'S BUILT: Frankenstein is alive, you lay in bed at night picturing her somewhere at flatrock all alone crying for its papa...

MIA: She disappears....cant find it, no one knows, trains come and go Nada, Zip, Nuttin.. :frusty: I call this the bermuda triangle bit..

THE BOAT RIDE: After wearing out the track and trace button on my Pc, all day all night for weeks (wife now things I'm a bit disturbed)....then BOOM....No longer does the red "No records found" appears but your VIN shows up as arrived...Several boats come and go (you cry a bit) then...Pheeeewwww it's on the boat my baby is safe and sound the journey will begin (you may even cry a little more)...you relax a little.. (at this point don't do weather checks etc because every typhoon, tornado etc anywhere in the world freaks you out)

THE BOAT RIDE 2 : did I mention just how slow the boat goes?

THATS ME UP TO NOW: Im waiting for a boat it's 8 days away then it's on my home soil, I then hassle the dealer daily ( I pictured just before I fall asleep at night some emergency tactical response group flying in taking charge and getting car from dock to dealer in 37 minutes) but I know this won't happen and in reality its wedged between 6 white ford Rangers going to a mining company that no one really cares about....sitting in the full sun covered in seagull shit from the overlarge Fremantle chip fed Gulls.. and I feel this is THE hardest part of the wait....Then it's off to the dealer where you hope some new 16 year old car cleaner whos drops his sponge in the dirt everytime a passing car hoots isnt washing "your" new Mustang. Then off for tint, please do that in 1hr without so much as pupic hair left on my car "please" then fit my plates "EXACTLY" how I told you...(praying they didn't miss the email about NOT fitting those giant black factory plate holders)....THEN you get that call

Darryn.....Your new mustang is ready to collect .....then you cry a little again...

Cant wait.
Hi Darryn
All of what you have said plus lets add go to China for ten days leaving on the DAY the Pony likely arrives in Adelaide!!!!!!!!!:headbonk::doh:
My Dealer says no problem they have a cover they put on cars waiting for their new owners:clap2:

It has arrived in port on the Salome. Now the excruciating wit for the dealer delivery. So close.
Ordered in Sep 2015.

Ready for shipping to dealer:
After unloading it takes 5-14 days for your car to be ready to be transported to your dealer.
you can track this process by using the Prixcars tracking app. http://e2.prixcar.com.au/e2/DirectAccess.jsp?task=VehicleTrackerHome.jsp
It can tell you the progress from when the car is unloaded - to when it is delivered to your dealer
This normaly takes 2-7 days depending on how far away the dealer is from the port.

Does anyone have more clarity on what happens from the moment Prixcars take the car from the port until we come to pick it up at the dealership? All I know is that it goes to a "delivery centre" first for cleaning and check up.

Reason for asking - I want to know where does Ford sometimes fit the hideous brackets (In the delivery centre / Dealership) so I can stop this from happening. I asked the dealer not to mount them but if this happens in the delivery centre I doubt the message will go through properly.

Cheers,

It may depend on dealer where they do the plates, however if you make it clear that they are not to put them on then it is their responsibility regardless of where it is done, who's your dealer as chances are someone here has had a delivery

I have read some comments from forum members who requested that from the dealer but their car was still drilled / installed with the brackets so trying to be more proactive.
I've ordered via Bayford Ford Coburg. Good service so far but not sure how good is the communication between them and the delivery centre

My Dealer knew I was putting personalised plates from another vehicle on to my GT and at their suggestion I took these plates with me on delivery day so we could get the holes correct and also they gave me the option if I wanted the Ford supplied big black plastic boxes (as they called them) for the number plates fitted. Naturally I said no. I am going back to February this year when I took delivery so it was early days for members taking delivery of their cars.

I received VIN early September, built 25th October, but that includes the build being delayed a week, at least, due to the factory being idled for a week.

Did you ask Ford Aus for your VIN?

Based on my own experience the VIN is available about 2-3 weeks before the window sticker and about 3-4 weeks before the build date. The window sticker is typically issued about a week before the build date and has the proposed build date on it - also called the blend date.

Ford AU should be able to provide the VIN if its available but reading other posts on the forum stranger things have happened.

Good luck with it and leave aside your VIN, I hope you have your new Mustang soon.
