Ecoboost mustang performance pack - Bumpy ride

I just got my first mustang. I got a good deal on a 2015 with 2500 miles out of state but i feel the ride is on the rough side and its kind of floaty at low speed and over broken roads. Overall its not very comfortable for me as i am looking to use this car to drive to work everyday. I test drove a Ecoboost mustang (no summertires/PP) locally before purchasing this one and i felt that ride was very good but the one i got is no where near it in terms of ride comfort.

Are the performance packaged ones suppose to ride like that? what can i make my ride more comfortable?

You might try a setup like this one.

Being serious, the PP will firm up the suspension to keep it more buttoned down, and the summer tires will give more grip while they are hot but will be very slippery when they are cold.

thank you but i didnt get from your post if the performances pack ecoboost i have is suppose to ride bumpy and shaky on street? i am also looking for suggestion to make is less bumpy..

First of all, is it stock still ? Maybe originally owner, changed some suspension parts. Think about it... they bought a Eco PP, modded it a little bit... wasn't fast enough upgraded with low miles for a GT.

Then you buy it used & don't realize it has been modded.

Second, the PP cars do have stiffer suspension, that is for better handling. You sacrifice some ride quality for a high performance set up. Pick... floaty soft "cadillac" feel or firmer sports car feel. OR get Magnaride shocks that can be adjusted on the fly!! If it is stock and you don't like the PP feel / parts, find someone with a non-PP car that might want to swap parts with you.... (springs, shocks & struts should be the main difference)

Nothing wrong with the springs you have, but the dampers could use some work. Depending on your budget, the Steeda Pro-Action shocks and struts would be a good choice that will improve the ride. They have non-adjustable and adjustable versions.

I agree with you. I test drove a premium EB but wanted the PP. There's a significant difference in the ride quality with the PP being very bouncy.

The first thing I did was lower the car. It had nothing to do with ride comfort, I just hate that 4x4 look. I selected the Steeda Progressive springs for the EB. Their progressives have an initial softer spring rate that absorbs the minor bumps to make the ride comfortable while progressively stiffening which greatly reduces dive on breaking and roll in corners.

My wife begged me not to lower this car like I have my last several cars. She hates the stiff suspension. I had to do it though, most of the time I'm in the car alone. After I got the Steeda Progressive springs installed, she was amazed, she said the ride actually got BETTER! While it was a definite improvement over the stock PP springs, the ride was still a little bouncy. That was last year before we had aftermarket dampers available.

Unfortunately I jumped the gun and bought Koni dampers the second they were available. Again, they are an improvement over the stock dampers, they aren't the best. I have mine adjusted on full soft and the compression is a bit harsh for daily street driving if you ask me. Right after that, Steeda released their Pro-Action Shocks and Struts. I really wish I had just waited another month and gotten those. I'd recommend talking with SteedaTech@Steeda (Mike D) or TJ@Steeda that support us here on the forum. They can advise you and help with your total suspension goals for the car.

new shocks greatly improved the ride on GT PPs. Factory shocks are underdamped. Im running BMR springs and Koni Yellows and it rides excellent

LOL I did and lowered those also. You're right though, my 15 was way better than all of the previous. I didn't lower my 67 Fastback, 68 Convertible or my 84 Fox but my 06, 10 and 15 all lowered.

Previous gens were always a little high, imo. This one is too, but it isn't as bad. Lowering the S550 even an inch drastically improves its appearance.

The PP cars can be quite harsh and at their best they're never comfortable. In my experience the two biggest factors are tires and dampers. These P-zeros don't feel as good as other tires I've run in terms of impact absorption. Something like a Conti DW (not the DWS) would make a big difference. Also, bring your PSI down to around 31 or so cold. Finally, we need better shocks. With Konis being harsh (no surprise) and no Bilstein offering that leaves Steeda.
