Hey guys! So I recently purchased my first mustang, a 2015 ecoboost premium package. In the first few weeks I owned it I never drove it hard or gave the car any kind of strain. A few days ago I decided to throw it into track mode and sport shift on the highway and see what kind of pulls it could do and how the torque felt. I did a rolling pull from about 55 mph and was using an on ramp onto the interstate. The car accelerated smoothly up until about 65 and then as I tried to continue accelerating it felt almost as if the transmission was slipping. The mustang was not jerking, nor making any strange noises. I had an inspection does and everything seemed normal, so I repeated the process last night to the same result. Smooth acceleration for a few seconds and then that same "transmission slip" feeling. It feels like acceleration stops for about a second and then something catches and it will then accelerate again for a few seconds and then the process repeats. This seems to only happen at higher speeds and higher RPM's. I'm worried something may be wrong with the car despite the inspection. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be happening or may have experienced this same thing themselves?
A few more notes:
I tried this in sport and track mode, same result. It will not do this in normal mode.
It is most definitely only happening at higher speeds. Passing on two lane roads at 45-55 is not an issue.
The car is fairly high mileage, 115000 at this point in time. One owner vehicle, strictly highway miles. I had it inspected before purchase and I meticulously maintain it.
The car runs, drives, and sounds perfectly healthy. I have no idea what the issue is here as this is my first performance oriented vehicle with an automatic.
