Howdy all!
A quick question for those that have a moment. I have a 2015 ecoboost manual. About a year ago, around 80k miles my clutch gave up without any warning. I had no slipping or chattering, just turned into a bird nest after an aggressive stop light launch.
Had the car towed to the local dealer and had them diagnose/repair the issue. $2200 later, I had my car back. Fast forward 11 months later and itās sprung a massive oil leak from the rear main seal (yes I am aware that the leak is unrelated to the dealers clutch replacement and do not blame them for this issue). Since I have some free time, I decided to tackle the rear main in the driveway rather than spend another $1000+ at the dealer. Once I pulled out the transmission and started disassembling the clutch, I found that my flywheel is pretty deeply grooved.
I suppose my questions are āShouldnāt Ford have caught this during the last clutch replacementā and āDo I need to address this now?ā. Also, can I have this flywheel turned/resurfaced or is it not serviceable?
All replies are greatly appreciated!
