Finally got around to my dyno at Underground Autosports here up in Schaumburg, IL right outside of Chicago -

Brought my 2019 base GT 2,000 miles 100% stock / Oem on 93 for a baseline run and before & after dyno uploading the SCT BDX preloaded 93 tune. Stock 235/50/18 tires and base gearing in the car I forget what it is off top of my head.

I was always skeptical if canned tunes really do anything. Or where they add fuel, piggyback, change settings throttle response, and engine braking etc. The numbers were very interesting and the dyno graph was interesting as well to see the changes directly before and after. Yes we've seen AmericanMuscle and other big names do before / after tests but there's cuts in video clips, massaged numbers, dyno tricks like SAE vs Standard numbers, etc. Not bashing any company but business is business marketing is marketing. I come from a e46 M3 for 5 years, 2014 GT w/ Bama sct tune boss 302 intake 2 years, 17 camaro ss 1LE - AL driveshaft ported IM & TB, exhaust, etc, E39 M5. All track cars excluding the M5 all dyno'd on this same dyno.

Got the mustang on the dyno here are the numbers. And the old camaro 1LE's printout for comparison.
5th gear 365whp.. Informed the tester 4th was now 1:1
4th gear put down a 405whp 383 ftlbs on 93
Ford says 460 crank that gives us a 12% drivetrain loss 405/460
10min later with the sct BDX 93 tune for 2 more runs.
Non custom tune uploaded - 407whp SAE corrected and 421whp standard Uncorrected (what the parts dealers use to inflate gains and numbers to sell more)

Right. Not much of a difference for a tune to more / less void your warranty. Hopefully these "custom email tunes" via sct x4, nGauge, and BDX net gains. Now there is a huge gain from 2500-4k rpm. And a decent 5-10hp gain from 6000-7500 aside from peak numbers being identical. I was expecting a large peak gain like ALL of the YouTube giants claim to see. Should I have expected zero peak gain without the "custom" aspect of the tune?
Thoughts?
-cheers

Preloaded tunes? Pretty much pointless with a preloaded tune.

Get a tune from Lund, AED or Palm Beach Dyno.

Tune only on these cars don't do anything. Ford has it pretty much figured out from the factory. I would only get a tune if I was planning to run e85.

Stock tune doesnt do anything?

Well im no vendor leg humper but look at the orange 2018 lund used for software/tune development.

It most def. made some nice gains esp. on E85.

The E85 10 speeds are low 11 second Cars on sticky tires. Here’s an interesting video showing the practical differences of each tune.

Because of the compression on the gen3s the debate to run E85.or not is simple.

If you have E85 around you run it period!!

PBD has stated many times the gen3 even in NA form are "octane limited"
