I've always used natural chamois for drying. I've tried microfiber and was far from impressed (might not have been a specific drying cloth), and cotton terry leaves too much lint. The Absorber is a joke.

I just bought a new chamois from Walmart and it's terrible (I know, I know... but the last few I've had were from there and they were just fine, though), so I'm looking for something else. What are you guys using for a spotless, lint-free dry-off?

I use a California water blade. Only $20 bucks or less on Amazon. It will remove 80-90% of the water with no marring. I then finish with a waffle weave MF towel and leaf blower. You need a waffle weave MF. It works perfect.

I don't trust those silicone squeegees. My only other new car was completely covered in light scratches from the dealership using one.

Maybe they were just apes, though :p

LOL!

I have used them for many, many years. Including my black 03 Cobra. I also have a black boat that I use it on. No marring at all on my Cobra or boat.

If your car is waxed, you can sheet the water to dry itself, 90% of the car will be dry, and you won't spend most of the time drying the car.

Here's a video explaining.

Yeah, I always start my drying process by sheeting the water off as per the video here, starting at the top and moving down. Removes a great deal of the water. I finish that up with compressed air. This combo gets 99% of the water gone without ever having to touch the paint. The very small remaining water gets taken care of by a dedicated drying towel that is blotted on the area in need, no movement of the towel. If for whatever reason I think it needs it, a quick few spritz's of quick detailer on the drying towel for added safety guarantees a damage free drying.

Also, I have a white drying towel for paint/glass and a separate dark drying towel for engine/wheels/exhaust/undercarriage areas.

After sheeting the water off, I use an electric leaf blower to dry the car. Works great and nothing touches the paint. It also gets the water out of the little crevices. I found it takes a bit longer than drying with a chamois and towel, but I like the result.

The hose and leaf blower method also pin point areas where you need better waxing. No sheeting...go back and rewax that area.

I do the water sheeting process then finish up with cobra guzzlers.

Lots of nooks and crannies on the mustang, so might grab a leafblower or masterblaster for those

I use a chamois for the 1st pass.

Then I dry the windows with a dry terry towel. Use that same towel, now damp, to wipe the car down the rest of the way.

I then use my air compressor and blow out all the trim and mirrors and such drying what ever comes loose.
