driver side blind spot. anyone else having issues?

i learned to adjust my side mirrors this way a long time ago in a defensive driving class. my wife still likes her mirrors the traditional way where you see your car though, it drives me nuts. i have to adjust her mirrors every time we have a long road trip in her car.

That's interesting. For almost 40 years of accident free driving... I've preferred to have a glimpse of my car in the edge of the side mirrors. It gives me a visual constant. My mirror isn't "floating" in space, as it were. It's also how I can tell if it's moved even just a little bit. I personally don't rely on the side mirror to see all of the blind spot but rather farther off.
I was exactly the same way. After adjusting it that way I started to learn to slightly lean right and left to check the mirrors in relation to the side of the car. It became automatic. Not all the time, just an occasional reassurance.

yep it took me some getting used to. and that's what the defensive driving guy said, if you need to see your car, just tilt your head a bit.
