I am wanting to shed some weight and get a proper drag tire setup for my 800rwhp car...

I am looking at doing some 17x10 rear wheels (weld or racestar). What does everyone think between a 28x10x17 Hoosier slick vs the 305/45/17 ET Street R (Mickey's new street legal race tire).

I would say I should just grab the hoosier slicks and be done with it. But I am leaning towards leaving these wheels on the car more and them seeing some street duty. Think the 305/45/17 will hook up good enough at the track with 800rwhp? I am not too worried about the launch since I am an auto with a stock stall. It will leave with probably a 1.6-1.8 60ft. My main concern is the 1-2 shift and 2nd gear. That is really where I start to have traction problems on the street...

Thanks in advance!

it has an engine!
hooiser or M&H. Id pass on MT's. You don't need 305 slicks to hook up 800rwhp. People have ran 7s on 275s. I wouldn't go larger then 295s. Being you're an auto, you could do very well with Radials. The only downside to radials is they take more time to learn what they like and don't. Also if you lose traction with radial you cant pedal it back like a slick. Id also look at the stiff wall slicks, some people don't have the skill to handle the sway near the end of the track, which was the other reason some people use radials. The stiff still have slight sway but not as bad as none stiff.

All this is true if it was going to be a dragstrip only tire... But I am leaning towards wanting that dual purpose and have some good traction on the street as well...

I am leaning towards it. Are you running this on your car? I am hearing great results with this tire on the street and track.

I have both the MT 295/45-17 MT Drag Radials and the MT "R" 305's.

The MT "R" is actually a little narrower. It is taller. But holy smokes, much better if you want hook.

I will be posting some pictures in my build thread soon.
