Is drag mode throttle supposed to feel less responsive in normal driving when you’re not WOT? I understand it’s not meant for street use and I never drive in drag mode unless I’m racing, but I have noticed that under light/normal throttle it’s a lot less responsive then sport+ mode. Still pulls like a freight train under WOT though…

It’s funny you say this when I was messing around one day i was thinking the same thing drag mode is the smoothest of all modes driving around but the most violent at wot who woulda thought ha ha.

Yeah it just feels kinda sluggish driving around normal. I have to give it more throttle than I would the other modes if I was just trying to get up to speed from a light or something. Almost like it’s begging me to punch it lol.

@ponyboy0123 yea I would say it does seem more dead on throttle input compared to others down low Mabye it’s programmed for all wot Stuff hard to say even being tuned I will say it’s for sure the most tame out of the modes just cruising for whatever reason

I believe it is done that way as in a drag race most likely you will be WOT and nothing else.

Same thing happens in track mode. Don't want jarring/stabbing input car motion things happening while on a track.

Atleast what I've gathered in my own searches.

I do normal on highway and sport plus for just about everywhere else.

This is what I figured. There’s just no good explanations anywhere for throttle response between all the modes.

i believe the sport mode is ‘augmented’ in the low rev range to make it feel more lively. By that reasoning, Im guessing the ‘sluggish’ start in the drag is designed to optimize traction at launch with a steep bump in the middle of the rpm range. Normal I think is linear all the way and Wet is always delayed. Track probably adds a bump in the higher end. Just an educated guess.

I tried mine in drag today just tooling around and it feels like normal to me albeit with 3 less gears available. So much so a fart canned Mazda 3 left me sitting lol.

I always assumed it was the transmission not locking the torque converter in drag mode in all of the lower gears(as opposed to it locking after 2nd gear l believe in the other modes) Or at least thats what it feels like to me. Honesty, it feels a little like the old 4 speed slushers- very smooth.

DO NOT USE DRAG MODE IN THE RAIN - I almost lost it :whew:

Does anyone else’s do this weird thing while in drag mode, while rolling around say 40-50mph or any speed really and once you let off the gas it’ll go back and forth between 2 gears like it can’t determine which one to stay in? Only does it when I let off the pedal.
