I dropped off one of our off-road downpipes to our fabricator to add on the electric cutout option. I will let you guys know pricing and availability once he's finished building it.

Thanks,
Jared
If this does happen what is the likelihood that it will also be offered in a chatted version too?

It's simply an electronic butterfly that you control with a switch to open and close it. As for performance, it basically removes all the back pressure of an exhaust system and when tuned, will improve performance drastically.

Yup.. Here is an example of the installation and how it all works. You can use a switch in the car or like this one opt for the remote option. I ran a setup similar to this on my Z28 at one point with the remote.

general idea on the sounds difference closed vs open on a focus ST and roughly how it will sound on the EBM.

IMO whats the point of having a exhaust cutout if you already have an exhaust?

U would probably pick up some power.... In my srt I constantly ran 1-2mph slower going from a cutout to a full 3" exhaust. Eventually went back to a cutout and picked back up my mph. But mainly it's nice being able to switch from beast mode to grandma mode on the fly when it comes to noise. Driving around on the weekend I would just leave it open and when I didn't feel like dealing with the noise I closed it and sounded a little louder than stock.

currently running a similar setup. off rode downpipe and welded on a qtp low profile cutout onto downpipe before big resonator. i also got the wireless wired in and have the on/off qtp key fob. its pretty straight forward, when you want to sound stock, have it closed, but as soon as you open the cutout its a whole different car and you're pretty much running open downpipe. my only concern is it kinda creates vibration but other than that its amazing.

i guess my only question is, preformance wise, whats better? downpipe with cutout attached to it or downpipe, 3-4in straight pipe all the way to the tips?

Straight through with as few bends as possible will be best also much lighter. The open cutout would be next. Closed cutout would be the worst because of added turbulence from the closed ended pipe. In fact there was some argument back in the day that the hp loss from turbulence generated from a closed cutout made the open cutout gains look better. Still don't know if that is true or not but seems feasible.

Any way you can get some pics? Curious to see the placement.... And not going to beat a cutout honestly and less weight compared to a stock exhaust
