Not sure if this should be posted here or in the off topic section , but I was wondering what all you dog owners out there do for travelling your dog(s) with you in your cars?

What kinda seat protection do you use? Covers? Pillows? Blankets? Anything custom?

What kinda harnesses (if any) for the dogs as well?

I have two small dogs (15 lbs) each and just curious as to how you protect your seats and dogs too? :D

In the '06 with leather seats it was a blanket or a grip of towels, while I wondered how inhumane it would be to just tie the poor pup down like a 1920's psychiatric ward patient.

In this car, I went cloth specifically because of her lol. I think it'll be fine, but I'll probably just get some kind of seat cover because she's half husky and half some kind of weird barky little terrier. But that husky style fur sure does shed like a ************ lol.

Most dogs I know like to ride in the front seat with their tongue hanging out the window, lol. :D

I have a 20 pound Havanese and he sits in a seat that has a strap around the headrest and another around the seat itself.

I love that. But there are body harnesses that get strapped to the seat that may save them in a crash.

Yes:

Solvit also makes a lot of very nice seat covers that will save your seats from dog nails & drool.

I run a rescue & transport dogs all the time (some are pretty nasty when I get them) in my G35. I have 3 layers - a waterproof cover, a thick padded cover (semi-water proof) and then an old fitted bed sheet on top (easy to take off & toss in the washer after a smell dog gets in there).

A friend of mine has 2 Havanese. Great dogs. But they don't have a distinct breed look. Your dog looks different than my friends dogs. And his dogs look different from eachother.

Cloth seats and a shedding dog. Been there, did that. No more. :headbonk:

How do I transport them?

My wife's car of course.

In all seriousness, only one has been in my car and that was transporting the new puppy we got last week. Just put a towel down on the front seat. With previous transportation in other cars we just put a huge blanket down in the 2nd row, although they loved to come up front so maybe a hammock type 2nd row device would be a good idea.

Yes, even when you look at his siblings they vary widely. Ours is a moose! Way bigger than most.
