I need to remove the strut bar. Do I need to replace the black piece?

You can usually just pop them off the stud and when you need to reinstall it you can push them back on.

If it breaks or has to be cut for whatever reason, yeah might as well replace it.

When I removed my strut bar, it snapped out and back in no problem.
