So I've been doing lots of lurking and unfortunately haven't seen my concerns very talked about.
Yes I have the thuds in and out of every gear and the clutch is mushy sometimes and stiff others and sounds like a coin purse getting thrown down the street on engagement....
But the biggest issue I have is my car doesn't like, nor has it ever liked going into 3rd gear. When I bought it it had 142 miles on it, and the salesman assured me that's why we have warranties...
So the entire shift pattern was smooth as butter, but it as I shift into 3rd about halfway in the shifter froze (felt like I hit a hard stop) then it would fall into gear. At my first oil change at the dealer the person at the counter told me this was normal. So I just carried along and dealt with it.
Now I'm at 15000 miles and that buttery smooth shifter now feels very crunchy mobing thru all the gears, and I really have to jam the shifter to get it into 3rd gear, and occasionally 4th is the same way. And I'm not talking like a nice push, I really need to apply some force to that sucker.
I've only had it pop out of 3rd on me once... And a firm jam into the gear position it staid in there like a good little shifter. When i mentioned this to the dealer they said that will happen if you let the clutch out to quickly. So I didn't think much of it and carried on.
Is this normal on all of your cars or is my trans not well? Normally I wouldn't think this was normal, but I've never had a manual before that had all these odd noises that are turning out to be rather standard...
