Hey guys,
I am wondering if anyone has done their own exhaust on their cars? I can't really find any off the shelf exhaust notes that I do like. So my plan was to put some catless long tubes on the car and build an exhaust from there using Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers. I want to get that classic sound, maybe it isn't possible with these new engines?

Thoughts?

You won't get anywhere close to that classic sound with catless LTs and Flowmasters on these cars.

Is it just the nature of these 4 cam engines?

lol that's funny, yeah I saw the notification on MiataTurbo, I guess tagging people is a new thing. I don't really get on much these days, not until I finish the car anyways. Yeah she is a 2016 Competition Orange PP. absolutely love it. Just gotta find the right exhaust note and I'll be happy. Have you messed with tuning yours?

Not yet, no time.
Get something that flows well if you're gonna to with LT's, I think Flowmaster is chambered/baffled? If so, that's garbage, just for sound. Unless I'm confusing with something else.

You want a killer setup? Check out this guys:

Local guy, goes to sac raceway all the time, running Lund FF tune, LT's, intake, and I think exhaust. mid 11's at around 119 all day every day. And now with GT350 IM running low 11's at 125 or something crazy like that.

Super basic. Super impressive setup. Impressed every time I see his car run

Between firing order, muffler placement and exhaust design it's going to be tough to replicate the sound of an pushrod or even 4.6 modular engine.

I was hoping to make it sound like my 71 small block Dodge Dart... 10.5:1 nice cam, headers, 3" flowmasters

Don't mind it dying at the end, idle was a little low for trying to put it into gear :D
