Did Ford forget an antenna?

when driving to houston the other weekend even with it cloudy i could hear WBAP out of dallas (820AM) all the way to waller on 290. somewhere near hockley i had to switch over to the houston station (740AM)?

im 28. been listening on and off to talk radio/AM since i was 18.
