After trying to paint correct (rub-out) and wax right up next to the plastic trim along the fascias and below the doors, and seeing it would be a major pain to keep products off the rough plastic trim, got a roll of blue painter's tape and went to town. Takes a little effort to mask it off, but once done you don't have to worry about being so careful near the plastic trim.

I think it depends on what wax you're using.

True ... but if anyone uses wax that will get into the rough pores of the plastic trim it's a pain to get it off. I had to do a lot of rubbing out on my paint also, so it's like I went over it with 3 or 4 different products, some of which were polishing compounds.

^^ This

I actually use the 845 on plastic as it shines it up a little and protects it. I have yet to use it on the Mustang, hopefully doing that this weekend. Another option for the plastic trim is Klasse AIO, you can put that stuff on anything.

I never do traditional wax.... I use xpress liquid wax from Meguiars. I use this every week and sometimes more. Best part is that I can use on everything. Plastics, headlights, brake lights , interior(yes interior also). Great product from Meguiars 1 gallon of this ready to use is really cheap

If you do get wax on the plastic remove as soon as possible with a light APC and plush microfiber, no worries.

If you bake it in the sun for 6 months first, you're screwed.

No because I use it as a quick detailer also. Best of both worlds

it would make more sense to actually wax it with quality wax and use an actual detail spray after each wash to maintain the wax...but whatever floats your boat!
