For Crystal Serum they recommend you keep the car dry for 12 hours after application hence its usually a two day job.

My understanding is the car can be completely 'g tecniqued' in around 4 hours. That includes prep on new car, crystal serum, 2 coats of EXO, glass, wheels and interior. Dealer has a prep area separate to the workshop that they say the detailed can use. Cost is £350. I used him for a full valet of my Touareg and we provisionally agreed it all the. I still have months to wait :(
Full Crystal Serum has a curing time, the car is usually kept indoors overnight in a heated environment to aid that process. Mine took 2 days to complete.

Agreed. But I have been told there is nothing that needs to happen the next day. The detailer does all the treatments and leaves it to cure overnight at the dealership. I collect it the next day. Are there any floors in this plan?!

As long as you're comfortable with the abilities of your detailer and the environment he's going to use then I'm sure it'll be fine. I would say that going by the GTECHNIQ website it would have to be Crystal Serum Light they're applying as the full blown stuff has a three hour drying time before EXO can be applied which would make a complete 4 hour job unlikely.

The quote is for the whole hog..crystal serum (not light). Website in FAQ states this...

Q: How long after applying CS can I apply EXO or C2?
A: Because Crystal Serum cures very quickly, you can apply these ultra hydrophobic top coats (this is optional!), right after finishing your CS application. Just start at the same start point and follow the same order of panels you did when you applied CS.

So should be fine.

You are absolutely correct, yet on the product page under the application information it says this...
We do not recommend applying more than one layer of Crystal Serum, but for improved hydrophobic function, it can be layered with two coats of Gtechniq EXO – but you must all three hours for Serum to dry before applying

I assume they mean allow three hours rather than all three hours :)

If its Crystal Serum then the detailer is accredited and will therefore know what he's doing, so it'll be superb

It's a mine field! 2 conflicting pieces of info on the same page doesn't help! I will contact them direct and see what happens. Cheers

GTech confirmed that CS and CS light can take EXO in minutes. It's the C1 that needs to dry for min of 3 hours. So full CS black detail can be done in 4 ish hours.

Ā£150 for Gtechniq TSP?

Thanks mate. Will give them a call. Close enough to home for me
So, has anyone on here used Basingstoke Car Detailing? £150 for exterior Gtechniq TSP is a good deal.

So my car is back from the detailers and it's been a long week without it lol. This was something that I was delaying but I could not put up with the finish on my car any longer.
It's my own fault, I should have this done right from the start but I was ignorant on washing techniques and was more interested in getting the car home than looking after the paintwork. So after several months of lazy washing, and trips down to the quick car wash I realised that my paintwork was looking shit, and worse still scratched.I spent ages on the Internet looking for a top detailer and found one in The Matt finish in Sittingbourne.I booked it in for a full correction detail with Sirimak coating.Matt said it was a challenge, but was pleased with the outcome and so was i.It now looks fantastic and better than I picked it up from the dealers.
I now realise how important it is to wash a car properly and use the right products. It's an expensive process and a lot of hours and work involved but it's worth getting it done properly.

Good post Avocet:thumbsup:...

Makes me glad that I drove my car home, and then had the full Gtechniq treatment.... 2 full days and best part of £500 quid, but 4 months on, a quick snow foam, and a wipe over with a cloth is all it takes to clean the car:)..

One last pic (with a proper camera) that hopefully gets across better what a good detailing can do - light/sunshine reflection is really pure, and the surface seems to repel dust/dirt so much better.
