I stopped by my Ford dealer today to check on the status of my GT Coupe. (I ordered it just after Thanksgiving last year, and it was built on February 9 of this year.)

The dealer said it finally was assigned a rail car last Friday and should be on its way (ETA April 15). That will be just about 5 months from order-to-delivery. He told me that the reason for the long delivery time is that Ford had parked several thousand 2015 Mustangs in a lot near the factory. He didn't know why but in the past it has been for reasons like the discovery of a production issue and they can fix those several thousand before they head off to the dealers. Sorta like a "recall." He doesn't know if that is the reason this time but apparently I am not alone waiting for a new Mustang.

I also noticed that on eBay there are fewer 2015 Mustang GTs for sale by dealers than usual whereas there are normally quite a few. Parking several thousand at the factory may be the reason for that also.

Has anyone else heard about this parking of several thousand new Mustangs?

My car arrived 3/16,had a 2/2 build date and was part of QC hold,no idea what QC hold was for,had several panel alignment fixed before I would accept delivery.also several other mustangs arrived on same transport with late Feb. build date and looked to have better panel alignment.hopefully they have addressed that issue.
