I have the convertible with the enhanced security package. I want to set the default alarm setting to passive only (to save the battery as I don't drive it daily), but want the option of easily changing to active sensors in some cases, so I left "ask every time" checked. But I noticed that the next time I turn off the car, it indeed asked me, but the default choice was active instead of passive. Anyone else in this scenario? If I really want passive most of the time without having to select each time I stop the car, do I need to change the default and not have it ask me every time? This seems to defeat the purpose of that setting.

yup, nothing about the default setting (that I could find), just a general description of what the alarm does

Maybe set it to active and let the battery sleep mode do its thing?

In my case i had to uncheck the ask question. That way it stays by default where you select it and don't ask everytime you shut off the car.
