Saw this car a few days ago at a local restaurant. Snapped a quick pic, as I had not see anyone put striping on the Decklid.

kind of cool looking. Anyone done something like this? What did you use to fill those little grooves?

It can depend somewhat on the color/contrast if stripes are perceived as too much. For instance, I applied charcoal metallic instead of black stripes on my car because I perceived black was too bold and racy for a convertible. I wanted something that was a bit closer to the car color. That way the stripes don't scream for attention, but have a more classy look in my opinion.
In the OP's pic, it may be that the wide red striping (as opposed maybe 1/4" wide red stripe) may be what is creating some hesitation for someone to like. Of course one can have the primary stripes overly wide for visual balance as well. But...if the owner is happy with the stripes, that's great.

Here are a couple old decklid pics as an example using not-so-contrasting stripes to achieve a not-so-bold and racy stripe look. If I had a fastback instead of a convertible, I'd be inclined to go with something a little more bold.

I believe the OP was referring to the part commonly called the decklid, although I think that's a weird name. The part with the pony emblem (GT on yours) and the thin red horizontal stripes in the first pic.

Stripes are very subjective. Personally I wouldn't do the horizontal stripes on the "decklid" but I do like the rest of what he/she has done.

I also realize this did not answer your question. I believe you could use:
Vinyl pinstripe
Paint
Plasti-Dip (if so inclined)

Ah...I see what you mean. The post may have been all about the horizontal stripe and nothing else, now that I reread it.

The red on the taillight panel is a different shade than the pinstriping (or at least that’s the way it appears in the photo), so my guess is it is either paint or plasti-dip. Could be leftover vinyl pinstripe as well and just the lighting/angle throwing off the color.

yes, this is the part I was talking about.

I agree that it might have been too much on this particular car. However, I was wondering more about doing something similar on the Decklid to my car, not the rest of the stripes.

Buy this and experiment. You don't even have to be precise. Stand back 10-20 feet and when you find something that strikes you, start refining it. Then once you know exactly what you want, go for it. Or you might just find you like it better blank. To each their own.
