Interesting! I haven't experienced this but I have on other Mustangs in the past and I was told this is possibly part of the factory tune.

I will mention to everyone with a newer Mustang that there was a new PCM update introduced end of August. I'm not saying this will fix any of the issues I've been reading but obviously can affect performance and response from throttle inputs. Despite all the things I've tried and done with mine I still continue to have a harsh shift or slip at times and always on the 4>5 upshifts. Does not matter what drive mode it is in or necessarily how warmed up the transmission is. Sometimes the slips are hardly noticeable, sometimes they are very drastic up to 500+ rpms.

I do also want to note, and hopefully this is not the case for OP's vehicle, that lots of these also came low on transmission fluid(mine was 1qt low from the factory).

Is there a way to verify the fill?

Is this supposed to be distributed via an Sync update, or only randomly applied by the shops?

You pretty much just have to request to have it checked, trans does need to be at approx 180 degrees when they check the trans fluid level however.

As far as your second question, only a dealer can update the PCM to the current level and is another thing if you're wanting it done, that you would have to request. As long as it is still under new vehicle warranty there should be no charge for that. If you're over by time or miles I don't believe they can warranty that update.
