Dead AC

[GT350/BT55]

2017 Track Pack
So I am at about 6500 miles.
Had Oil Line recall Change.

AC Started blowing hot air.
dealer took it in 48 hrs later explanation was "blown clutch"
in compressor I guess. was basically stuck in position.

Works now, all good. Will update if any issues.
They said no dash disassembly.

I just thought it was nice that whatever they came up with did not require the dash to come apart.
At least that's what they said.

Time will tell if they nailed it but it works now.

I was sweating if they would blame it on my MGW shift linkage.

Actually they were good about the whole thing, no worries.
My dealer has a new facility, its nice, clean, one of the service people gave me a lift back to work.

If they had the dash apart it would have taken quite a while. It would not have been a two day turn around I can tell from first hand experience. And for the record the service tech took his time, and did a bang up job. No rattles, no squeaks, no alignment issues, and everything works as it should. You'd never know it was out of the car and I saw it on the shop floor out of the car.

What was the prognosis w your vehicle. AC still working? How long ago?

Wasn't AC related. My AC works fine and I have 7K on the car. Just trying to assure you that a dash can be removed and put back in (complete dash not just trim) without complications, and that there was not enough time for them to have pulled yours. Its a 3-4 day job. Mine was pulled by a guy who had done 4 other dashes prior to for A/C evaporator issues. The dealership pays him hourly on those jobs because they know realistically that the flat rate time rate is near impossible to achieve and they want the job done correctly. He is one of their specialists that handle more tedious drawn out jobs.

If it makes you feel any better my AC has failed 4 times since late April on my 2017 350. Each time it was something new... system needed a recharge the first time, next the compressor failed, next the Evap sensor failed which required full dash to come out.

At this point I’d already had enough with not only the AC Issues, front splitter coming off on the freeway, oil consumption issues and sagging panels galore, etc. I sold her sight unseen to an out of state dealer for a 2017 Z06 with manual transmission. By the time the Vette was being shipped to me, the AC failed for a 4th time. I can’t express how disgusted I was with how my GT350 story was coming to such a bitter end as I sat in traffic with no AC and 113 degrees being displayed for outside temp.

I am now 2 days in to owning the Z06 and the only thing I like more about the 350 was being able to really manipulate some awesome pops and crackles with the resonators off. Besides that, I have no regrets bailing out from the GT350 world. Sorry for the rant and long story but I imagine I’m not the first guy to have a sour ending with these cars.

Wow, that would not be good in AZ. I have been to AZ in summer, and it was one of the hottest places I have ever been in my life.

AZ summers are just brutal and they only seem to be getting longer in duration! Or maybe my late 30’s blood is less tolerate of the heat as I once was.

Thanks for the well wishes with the Z06. I’ve been driving Mustangs for the last 8 years and I’m excited for the change of scenery. Never thought my next move would be an “old mans car” after the 350. But damn if I didn’t go off the deep end! I’ll for sure miss the good times with the GT350 on the track, but life is too short to hang on to a troublesome car.
