Following the installation of my Thinkware 770 last week, I just downloaded and installed the Australian firmware and speed camera data with no issue. Everything works as it should and the date/time are correctly displayed. It is a very simple process.

Also upgraded to a $75 128GB Micro SD card sourced via eBay which is also operating as it should.

The only downside that I can see from purchasing overseas, as previously mentioned, is the lack of local warranty.

Good news so far @2-STANG .

Pleased to hear of your success. It's the same camera that I will be getting but most likely locally supplied.

I was thinking of getting a 64GB card, will that be sufficient?

Thats awesome! Great to hear that its working successfully with the 128gb card and the aussie firmware. Are the speed warnings and speed camera warnings any good?
Thanks for the update

Sure. 64GB is actually the largest recommended by the manufacturer - it's just that someone discovered that some 128GB cards work fine (the Samsung EVO Plus recommended by HybridGT certainly does). If purchasing via eBay, beware that there are a lot of fakes out there (usually from overseas sellers) which will not work. I can confirm that this seller supplies the genuine product:

As far as purchasing the camera goes, I would have gone local myself but was not aware that the F770 was being released here so soon. Having said that, for $470 you can have the full front & rear camera kit, including the hardwire cable and a 32GB card, delivered from the UK. The same set up here is currently retailing for around $700. Depends on how much the 12 month Australian warranty is worth to you, I guess.

They work fine, but are plentiful which makes them annoying. I'll be disabling all of them next time I get in the car.

Also got my 770 installed today. Really happy with it. Will have to disable the sound though Im thinking as I wouldn't want any evidence that may be required to have a sound track of my less than stellar singing

A bunch of ebay tech item sellers have a 20% off at the moment till the 24th I think. Good time to grab stuff.

Such as the new Blackvue DR650S 2CH set up from futu_online for $407.20 delivered (after discount).

Or a monitor for almost $400 off! :D
Hey Guys.
Excuse my question, I am not wanting to sound rude.

But Iam just wondering if these are "Grey Imports" that are not covered with warranty and software upgrades.

A good example is that there a numerous Nikon suppliers on fleabay whose cameras are grey and are not covered

Can't answer that one to be honest, but a quick Google didn't raise any red flags. Their Warranty Returns page doesn't either:

To be safe, I would assume Grey

Check out the Seller feedback history, and if it looks good you should be right.

I'm purchasing locally. It's a personal choice, so just do what you're comfortable with

The official Australian BlackVue importer does not specify fleabay sellers.
However their is a wholesalers that they may buy from.......but I doubt it, more likely they are grey.

No idea about the dashcam. But the sd cards are definitely genuine (I've tested them) and have a local warranty.

On a sidenote, the ultrawide Asus monitor also has a local warranty :D

Just do some checks/research on the individual seller prior I guess.

For those sitting on the fence, take a look at this months local compilation from DCOA.
