Cut tweeter wire?

So I installed Infinity 3.5 coax into the door. Unplugged the factory tweeter, but highs still too harsh. So I’m considering cutting the tweeter wire in the coax and just using the factory tweeter. Is there any downside to doing this? Does it change the impedance of the speaker? Also, is it as simple as just cutting the wires going to the tweeter or is there something else I need to do?
