Ok, I ordered an orange knob to go along with my PP GT. It was one of the normal ones on CJPP, that requires an adapter. I got the adapter in the mail right away, then about 3 weeks later got the ball.

The ball is great, but sits way too high with the adapter. It's acrylic, with a brass bushing set into it at the bottom. I am drilling it out so the adapter fits inside, effectively lowering the ball down to the right height.

I'll put up my progress pics here as I went along.

That's it in comparison to the stock knob. About 1.5 to 2 inches taller, not acceptable in the interior, I think the adapter is a huge eyesore.

Bought a 1.5" hole saw, then cut it out 1" deep.

Once the 1.5" hole is one inch deep. I went back in with a 1/2" hole saw and cut out the brass bushing up to 1" deep.

Then I used a dremel cut off wheel to cut out the inside part, and then a little stone on the dremel to smooth it out after that.

Now it's officially ready for the two part epoxy and the adapter to be glued in.

I took a bolt, added the adapter to it, then a small rubber washer, then a nut on top of it. This gives me enough thread to work with inside so it's adjustable.

Then I screwed them down on the bolt till they were low enough in the ball that I was happy with. After that I put a piece of blue masking tape on top of the bolt, so that no epoxy comes in contact with it inside the shifter.

Then I mixed the two part epoxy inside the ball, and smashed the adapter and bolt assembly inside. I just wiped off the excess that comes out with my finger, and very carefully held it exactly where I wanted it for about 5 minutes till it set up on its own. Then I set it on the counter to harden.

After an hour it's in there pretty solid. I went ahead and filled in the rest of the gap with some black rtv silicone to finish it off. Looks really clean now!

Here's an inside shot of the threads, and a last one of it finished up next to the stocker.

when you were cutting with the saw, what was holding the knob? Was it in a vise?

I just used my hands. The knob was screwed onto my old shifter for stability, and the saw was just slipped onto the shaft below it. I worked it like a pepper grinder. Took off a little at a time. Maybe took me an hour to do the cutting with the big hole saw

Safe to say I have a custom orange knob to go with my CO car now. I love the look of the knob. No one else will have one without paying someone to make one like this.
